Ahh, I remember it well!    I was healing and feeling guilty that the surgery that you were so despeartely ready for was put off. 

And then you had a family dustup or two, and then, finally the surgery.

I know you went through some rough times, physical and otherwise, after surgery and I have been glad to read the improving follow up reports.

Congratulations for the working body!  There is still much joy in parking in the back of the lot or taking the stairs, simply because we (finally) can.

Now drop in with an occasional essy, will you?

Jane, you're right.  I had two or three dates and every single time they did my lab work, something was wrong.  And my grandson was taken from me by his mother.  Now that turned out okay, but at the time I was so worried for him.  

I was at walmart the other day and I parked way the hell out in the lower 40 and my friend said, why so far?  I said, because I can walk the distance.  She laughed and said you are such a funny little lady.  Little being the key word. LOL.  I said, oh no, I am not little, I am healthy.  So we raced to the door with me running and her trying to beat me.  When we got to the door, she said, damn, you are fast.  I said, yep.  I was so slow for so many of those years.  I remember when I was so fat and she was so skinny and we would go places and she would run all over the store getting things for me so that we would not be in the store all freaaking day.  Now, we are both running like crazed shoppers.  And, to be honest, I really hate shopping so getting in and out is my goal.  

It was good seeing you.  I still check the board and see how everyone is doing.  I am always happy to see when you post.

Congratulations. What a journey you have  been on. . . That pool in Mountain Home was such a pivitol day wasn't it?

I thought about you Sunday as I sat in a silent Quaker meeting in rural PA. I spent two days staying with an 88  yr old Quaker lady to get in touch with my Quaker ancestry. Man on man did I have some preconceived and erroneous ideas about this Quaker lady. She's a bit of a "Quaker Guru" if there is such a thing.
 
I learned that there is no such thing as a typical Quaker.. This one is 88, radical, outspoken, an atheist, highly intelligent and a self proclaimed "misfit." What an education I got in two days. She has published many essays and even a couple of books explaining her views on being a Quaker. The search for an "inner light" is something that I can do. No dogma, no preacher, no guilt trips. . . . Quakers "accepted" her when no one else would.

This particular Quaker lady would have made a great hippie. . . . and perhaps she was! I'll have to check out the picture of the sit in at the Liberty Bell. I would not be surprised to see her in the picture tho she would have been "old" by the standards of the day.

If you end up at Temple I'll have to put you in touch with her. . .. What a discussion you two could have. I couldn't begin to hold my own with her. I think you'd love it!
