I try to find an ornament for our Christmas tree. Each year we remember our trip when we put up the ornament.

Most of my life I could not really afford to go on vacations, other than taking my children on one each year and so I always packed a camera and took pictures, figuring that those memories they held were going to be the best reminders of places we'd been.  It seems my friends/family brought me back things from where they'd been, often times it was something, while the thought was nice, the things not really of much usefulness to me, yet because they were gifted, I could not bring myself to part with them, just the way I am and so I've, through the years received many items that now sit in a box, the memory of the person who gifted them to me is what remains behind.

And so, today, as always, I travel with a camera and take lots of photos to share with anyone who would like to see them, but freeing them from having to hold onto a possession that they would otherwise not wish to have.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

When we go on a trip, I give Mary some money and me some money plus some.  That's because I pay for the meals.  Any souvenirs you like, you buy yourself.  So, I don't get many.  LOL.  Something really has to catch my eye.  Sometimes I will buy a shirt or two.  We probably spend more money at the local stores (KMart and WalMart) than anything else.  Always interesting finding stuff at an out of town store that you can't get back at home.  On our trip to Oklahoma, we bought a microwave.  We had already priced it in Texas, bought the same model in Oklahoma for $20 less.
