Hi It's Saturday
Aloha Maui Karen, and welcome back. We've all missed you.
It's not the first time I've said goodbye to a kitty but this has been the most difficult. With Kittle, it wasn't as sudden; he was diabetic and hyperthyroid, so I knew he was sick. Cinnamon had hyerthyroidism too and chronic renal failure, so I knew his time was short, too. But I had to let Diva go because she was pooping outside the box; then, before I moved, I said goodbye to Nettie because she had diarrhea and I didn't want to take the chance of her getting sick along the way in the car. Scooter just got sick so suddenly.
And then I couldn't even afford to get him cremated; it was $165 for cremation, and I just didn't have it. So unlike for Kittle and Cinnamon, I don't have his cremains. I guess in some of the other parishes in Louisiana (the equivalent of counties) it's offered by the parish, but not in Ouachita (where Monroe is). The private crematorium was way too expensive; I know I paid less in Michigan.
And when my other kitties died, I always had another kitty to comfort me. Now, I have none. I'm truly alone. I haven't felt so alone since I first moved to Montana in 1984; and even then, the people there were a lot friendlier.

I know no one will replace the furbabies that you've lost recently, but it sounds like a trip to a shelter is in order. You need some"one" to come home to. I know that for me, one of the best things about going away for a while is coming home to my three babies waiting by the door for me when I walk in.
If you get a slightly older cat (over a year or so), the kitten is still in them, but a lot of the naughtiness is gone. (Hopefully). And all the shots and neutering will be done, so the first year costs won't be so bad. I love kittens, but left alone they can be so destructive.
I know no one will relace what you've lost. But the love and physical contact is so important for those of us who live alone.
I think of you and your babies often.
