problems I am having
I had a rny just about two years ago now. I get an the scale and to my surprise I have gained weight. My intake is decaf coffee in the morning, a salad for lunch, and a south beach bar for dinner. I snack on sugar free popsiciles and fudgeciles, maybe a pack of peanutbutter crackers. I exercise faithfully seven days a week. What am I doing wrong? Another problem is gas, my family is starting to leave the room. Am depressed about the sagging skin, financially I can not afford plastic surgery, HELP.
The gas is from the sugar alcohols in the popsicles and fudgesicles and the peanut butter crackers are carbs, so they cause gas too. The South Beach Bars are a little high too. You probably aren't getting enough protein too, so your metabolism has probably stopped. I had a real problem with the popsicles and fudgesicles - I can't have them in my house anymore. I gain on them.
Hi there,
Bottom line here? You're not eating enough!!! My nutritionist says I need at least 1200 calories a day, preferably 1400 to maintain my current weight. I'm four years out from rny, but NO one can survive on what you're eating and expect to be healthy.
I agree that the sugar alcohols are probably causing the gas, AND most importantly you aren't getting in enough protein. What you are eating isn't enough to support a "normal" person, let alone one who malabsorbs a good portion of what you eat.
I encourage you to join our daily "How's your boat sailing" thread where we post what we eat on a daily basis. It will not only give you an idea of how you should be eating, but might give you some ideas as to what to eat.
Sagging skin sucks, for sure, but when you're in our age group you can't expect for much elasticity to be left to our skin. I wear Kohl's brand of Spanx long line camisole to hold in my excess skin until I have have plastics after the New Year. They really, really help and aren't uncomfortable at all.

gramma57,
You aren't eating enough and need to drop the south beach bar for dinner. YOU need to eat breakfast too. Where are your fresh fruits and veggies?
Your body is holding onto what ever you put in your mouth. Can you go see a nutritionist?
Forget about those peanut butter crackers in a pack, that's fine once in awhile but you need real food.
As for sagging skin that is just our world. I can't afford plastics either so wear support panties. Think about having better health.
Most of all start eating breakfast, you need to fuel your body. Hugs Debbie
