New to thread .. surgery scheduled

Hi Everybody,

Thought I'd drop in and introduce myself.  I'm scheduled for a RNY (lap) on Monday, September 27th. Am excited and looking forward to my new life. The only thing I'm a wee bit apprehensive about is giving myself a daily anti-clotting injection for 30 days post-op (necessary due to a high BMI and prior medical history).  Don't really like needles, but I suppose I'll just have to deal with it .. lol

Hope to find my way back here on a regular basis, so looking forward to getting to know y'all.

When I first started to give myself insulin injections I was nervous too.  I wanted to ask my husband to do it so I wouldn't have to.  I decided I was a big girl (literally) and I could do my own.  You get used to it pretty darn quick.

Congratulations on your RNY.  You're on your way to a brand new journey in your life!

Thanks Sandi.  I'm sure once they show me and I've done it once or twice I'll be fine.  My husband already said "no way"  .. lol  He doesn't do well with anything medical.  I'll be surprised if he actually shows his face at the hospital .. lol

Welcome Elizabeth!
Don't be afraid of giving yourself shots, you will do it in the belly and you have enough fluffiness there to not even feel it. I never felt my shots I gave myself. You will do great I promise. Instead think of it as medication...not shots maybe that will help you. Hugs and keep posting! Debbie

Thanks Debbiejean!  I certainly do have enough fluffiness, that's for sure .. lol  Glad to know it's not a big deal.  Really don't know why I was even concerned .. I ***** my fingers every day to check my blood glucose; this will just be a stick in a different spot.

Good luck.  You're in for a real ride once you're on the other side.  It's amazing how quickly your body starts changing.  We'll be waiting to know how things went.
