Do you really have an understanding of how much negative, self-directed talk is going on in your head?  If you are like many people who have struggled with the weight, there are lots of situations which cause you to speak negatively about yourself and your abilities.

THIS ISN'T HELPFUL TO YOU!!!

Even though clients have, in the past, told me they use these negative thoughts to motivate themselves, hearing "You suck!" / "You're so fat!"/ "Of course you're going to fail!" is NOT motivating -- it is demeaning.
Your boss would be reprimanded if he or she spoke to you that way and you would be incensed.

So why is it okay to talk to yourself that way?  The answer? -- It's NOT!!

Spend sometime this weekend writing down the negative self-talk that pops into your head -- there is a good chance you are going to be appalled at how frequent and mean it is.

debbie-this applies in sooooooooooo many aspects! thx!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I usually am not like this, but have been recently. I am hearing my mother too much ... she is the negative voice in my life (you're going to gain it all back). Right now I'm struggling at work and that's not good. I feel like I'm failing there, and I've never failed at a job before.

Hugs Eileen,
Try not to think you are failing at this job. Instead take those failure you have learned from this job and say okay...that's not going to work and try another idea for that failure. If we don't fail, we don't change so it's all good. Really I bet they all love you there, so you honey just move on to another way of thinking and doing a new job. You'll get there!

As for your mom voice going around in your head, tell that voice to go away!
You will not fail, you will not gain all your weight back.
If you gain some weight...so what. Thin people gain weight. YOU will take off that weight.
That is one thing we can control in our lives, what we put in our mouths. We can control our weight but we also have stresses in our lives and if we have to comfort with food, so be it. Just know it's for short term, not long term. I'm hugging you right now Eileen! Debbie
