OT: Scooter and Angels
I was so worried this morning about Scooter that I felt I had to get him to a vet. There are three vet clinics in Monroe and two in West Monroe. I called the three in Monroe early this afternoon and it happened to be their lunch break (now I know ... noon to 2 p.m.). But one guy answered and so that's where I went. I didn't have money today but an online friend in my cat forum offered to pay, so off we went at 4 p.m.
So far, it appears Scooter has a kidney infection. The vet did blood and urine tests and will repeat the urine test and one blood test next week after Scooter has been on antibiotics for a week. He also gave Scooter sub-Q fluids; he said Scooter was severely dehydrated. As soon as we got home, Scooter chowed down.
The other good thing was the vet took a postdated check for next week. The other clinics wouldn't do that. So I didn't need to ask my new online friend for help. Unfortunately, I will have a lot coming out of next week's paycheck, but I would do just about anything for Scooter.
We have angels walking among us; they are our friends or friends we haven't met yet. Who knows who will step up and help us at any one time? So many of you have done so for me; some day I want to do the same. I remember Julia helping and Pat Root and Bev and Carla; so many people who I barely knew before. You are all special in my eyes and in my heart.
Right now Scooter seems to be better. I hope he will be, but I know his life is short; he's 16, and I know he won't be around forever. I can just love him for the time I have with him.
