PET Scan

Have any of you had a PET Scan since surgery? They use a sugar solution mixed with radiation to flood your body. Sugar makes me sick- not to mention the nausea that I get when I'm afraid. I don't want to throw up during the scan. What do you think?

Julia, I haven't a clue. Wonder if it would be possible to mix it with something else. Do you have to drink a solution? We're learning right along with you. Perhaps they can give you something for nausea ahead of time? I sure would think they would do anything they could to prevent nausea and losing the contents of what they need to get the results of the scan. Hugs,

Karen C

THe sugar is what shows the spots of cancer (if I have any). Sugar is attracted to faster growing cells. So Splenda just won't do I'm afraid...:) The anti-nausea stuff is probably the way to go...

Julia, tell them about how you react to sugar, be sure to take some cheese or some type of protein so you can eat it right away after you PET scan. Hugs to  you. Debbie

(((hugs)))  I can't add to the advice to tell them how sugar affects you and let them deal with it.  I just want you to know I'm thinking about and saying a prayer for you!

Julia,

Wishing you the best and like someone said, tell them your situation, also make sure you have a good source of protein before and have something on hand for after. . .

Sending out positive thoughts for you.

Hugs, Laureen
