weight gain
This is my very first time EVER to be on anything like this. But a lady I was talking to and telling her my concerns said to get on a forum and ask guestions. After my rouy-X I lost 100 pounds. Now 3 years later I have already gained 43 pounds back. I eat all the time, I eat junk all the time, I dont exercise, or diet, or drink water or follow any of the rules that I was suppose to. I do not undersdtad why I am doing this to myself. I felt so good 100 pounds thinner. Has anyone ever done this? What is the matter with me? Why can't I stop eating? Any answers? Thanks, AlaskaGrammy
I don't have any answers for you, as I am having the same struggles...have regained 20 lbs and can't seem to get started again. I think we feel we are able to eat whatever we want and that's just not true....eating that way made us fat in the first place. Just need to get my head straightened out and concentrate on protein first, then few veg and a little fruit -- cut out sugar, white flour, and other bad carbs. God help me I sure don't want to weight 322 lbs ever again...I do exercise and every morning I say I am going to get on the program -- mostly that lasts until late afternoon when I want to start grazing.
I hope we can get back on track -- sending best wishes your way,

Done! Your Ticker:
AlaskaGrammy,
I read your post and just want to let you know that you had surgery on your body and you are gaining weight for whatever demons are living between your ears. . . you've taken a positive step in reaching out admiting you are struggling and basically asking for some direction. . .very simply you are not doing what you know works and this is a lifelong commitment. . .
Some suggestions. . . google the 5-day pouch test and follow it to reset your mind and body. . . it won't be easy, but it's 5 days of doing what we had to do initially for the first weeks post-op and it helps many people get back on track. . . also, see if there are any support groups that you can attend in your area, if not, come here as we support each other through suggestions and encouragement. Lastly, you might want to seek professional help, it is not a bad thing, but sometimes helps us to stop sabotaging ourselves from the achievements we would like, but somehow, either don't think we are deserving, or deeper issues. . .
Purge your home of all foods that you should not be eating and replace them with better choices.
If you don't follow the rules, you will continue to get where you were, you can stop it, I've known others in my area who have been where you are, they took back control and have successfully continued on their journey. If you are beating yourself up, put down the bat and get busy doing what you know works. . .
Wishing you the best.
Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

I've just started on my weight loss journey, RNY this March. What I didn't do from the beginning which I am finding helpful now, is logging my food on an online journal. I thought it would take too much time and be too much trouble. I was wrong on both counts. It can be an eye opening experience to see how the little things are adding up. It is helpful to monitor proteins, carb, and calorie totals. I am using myfitnesspal, but there are plenty of others out there. This just helps crunch the numbers, sometimes we have to adopt a "Fake it till you make it" attitude to get the desire back to be in a healthier place. Best wishes and a heartfelt prayer are with you on my part.
hmmm, kind of unkind to be so judgmental, don't yah think?
