Rudeness, lack of common courtesy.  Grandma used to always say "you don't have to like everyone but you do have to respect them".  I try to live by that rule.

Gum smackers.

A new one I'm experiencing that really pushes my buttons is age related.  Just because I'm getting older, that doesn't mean I'm getting stupider.  With the majority of us with age comes wisdom, more experience, a broader perspective on things, tolerance...I could go on and on.

Big barky, jumping dogs.

And their owners who make only half-hearted attempts to calm them.

For them, I have two words:  Obedience School!
(For the owners as well as the dogs)

I'm not talking puppies, here, with their natural exuberance!  I'm talking big adult dogs that run directly at me scare the hell out of me and knock me off my feet.

Everyone knows I'm a cat lover...  Smaller, quieter, and their own brand of attitude...

You asked...

Ill mannered dogs and ill mannered children.......one in the same. Reason? I'll mannered owners/parents!

IMHO (well, maybe NOT so humble...lol)

You're right.  About the parents.  Humble opinion or not, I totally agree.

Lap Band on 05/21/07 with
Social gatherings where the kids are just being kids but their parents are off having a good time in another part of the house/yard and expecting everyone else to be watching their kids.

People who drag their kids to a store when they're tired and it's probably their nap time.  And then totally ignore their crying and tantrums through their ENTIRE shopping trip.  No consoling the child, no cutting their trip short.

Parents ignoring their children while on the cell phone.  There was the cutest, sweetest baby (probaby 10-11 months old) sitting in the cart at the grocery store the other day.  Her Mom was on the cell phone and self-checking her groceries at the same time.  From the conversation, Mom was not on a serious call.  That little sweetie sat there with no interaction with her Mom for at least 20 minutes and she was a doll.  Just burns me up.

Thanks Susan.

You know Bev, I totally love my work, who I work with and what I do. BUT this is the time of the year that I really dislike. Back to school means lots of kids in the salon at one time. Mom is with the one getting their hair cut, the others are squirrling around, tv on some cartoon or Disney show (not that I mind that, but at a salon?), and you add all of that with conversation and blow dryers, well, it's just overwhelming sometimes.

The other day Mom was getting a cut and the early teens were in the waiting area. One of them had his shoes off and feet up, laying on the loveseat! I have to say it was nice that he at least took his shoes off, but it didn't leave a single place for anyone else to sit. Of course he didn't have the manners to get up and offer his seat to a woman who came in after he'd laid down. GRRRRRRRR sometimes!!!!!!

Distracted drivers ... people talking on the cell phone when driving (or worse, texting!). Pay attention to the road! At one point, my mom asked for my cell phone number because she was worried about me; I told her I don't turn on my phone when I'm driving, and she wouldn't want me talking on the phone because it's dangerous.

People who are abusive to animals. I read too many stories about this and it really ****** me off. It happens to cats more ... for some reason, people think they can burn cats or do mean things to cats more than dogs. These are creatures that are defenseless to us and are put in our care. There's a cat at the Kent County Humane Society in Michigan that was so badly burned its ears were mostly burned off ... Hadley is still alive and recovering well after a year of love and attention; he is supposedly one of the most loving cats at the shelter despite this abuse.

Blaring music in the car so that it shakes the houses around as you go by ... enough said.

Gary and I drove to Memphis one Sunday just for the heck of it. Being the passenger on a very long and boring stretch gave me a chance to check out the drivers in the lane next to me. Interstate 40 is very heavily traveled by 18 wheelers, and I counted 18 out of 20 truck drivers on cell phones!  Very scary.
