Hi All!
Hope you've all been well.  I've been swamped busy since I got back from trip back home.  Busy with house stuff and school....summer classes can be intense...non stop crunch time.  I have a final this week and then the next class starts next week.

Other than the house stuff and school not too much knew here.

I met with a career counselor today and came home rather excited since she really liked my business idea and thought I should pursue it.

I'm still doing Lymphatic Massage therapy to help keep swelling down and this weekend I really noticed an improvement.....I'm hoping I'm over the hump now.

Boy is it hot here!

I bought tickets to see Craig Ferguson at Carnegie Hall in NYC (in Oct).  I'm going with my BF and her two daughters (they are like nieces to me).

Well just thought I'd drop in and say hello.
Hope you all have a Terrific Tuesday!!!

Good morning Ruth, nice to see you back!

Things are busy for me too, and it just seems like there isn't enough time in the day anymore. I don't know how it's different than before, but I feel like I'm swimming in mud.
My weight is starting it's creeping again. I stayed at 133 for about 3 months and thought I had stabilized there, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Today I"m at 136. So...I'm getting my head out of where it shouldn't be and start paying better attention to what I'm doing. God, it's never ending, isn't it?

The kids got home from CA last night and what great stories they had. As much as they enjoyed it, they also realize how expensive it is to live there and how unstable the economy/government is, so I'm thinking they might not move there after all. Whew!

Okay, off to get ready for my day. I hope you all have a wonderful one!

Good mornin', ya'll.

I just saw a great little reminder on GMA.  In a car accident at 50 MPH, an unsecured item that weighs 20 pound****s with a force of 1000 pounds. Yikes!

Yesterday afternoon our DIL, my DH and I went to Costco (it's an hour away).  We only spent $300 (darn good for us), our DIL only spent $150.  Hooray!!  BUT on the way back we were talking about e-readers, etc.  Our DIL and son both have the Kindle, I had been researching it and the Nook.  Our daughter called and talked to the DIL about the iPad she had just gotten and that it does so much more then just an e-reader.  Wound up going to Best Buy when we got back and I got an iPad.  Yikes, there goes the budget!! I have playing with it and I think I am really gonna like it!! It has WiFi and I can do e-mail and Facebook on it. But, I'm not sure about security, so I will be careful about what I do (no banking).

Anyway, trying to finish packing for my trip to NY on Thursday.  My high school friend is already there.  Her brother still lives there and she now lives in AK. She is gonna stay so she can be there when we bury Momma on the 19th. She and I were like sisters since 2nd grade. Her second husband is from OR, so when we lived there we would see her every summer when they came down to see his folks. But I haven't seen her in 5 years.  Can't wait to really catch up with her!!

Everyone have a fantabulous day.

Hi Grammy,

Have a great trip and let me know what you think about the iPad, as I have a few gift certificates for BestBuy that I have been holding onto in anticipation of buying either the iPad or the iPod Touch. . .

Have a good day,

Laureen

Hi Ruth, Susan, Grammylew & The Remainder of the Gang,

Haven't had a lot of time or desire to be on the dang computer, work has been overwhelming and my personal life full, so at most I spend a few minutes on Facebook, decompressing via Bejeweled of Farmville and than off. . .

I may be taking a short trip to Mooresville, NC to attend my Uncle Joe's funeral services, just waiting on the details, he passed yesterday after a valiant battle with lung cancer, another person who never whined or complained once about his illness, lived right up to yesterday believing he was gonna stick around, I feel sad, but I really feel for his wife of over 40 years and his 5 children, he was a wonderful dad and husband and was my father figure as a kid, my Mom's only sibling, now he is at peace and with all those that have already gone before him, I am sure his Mom, my Aunt Connie and my Mom were all the front rowers to greet him. . .

Anyway, I am finally losing the weight that I put on post posion ivy, basically I cut all the carbs from my diet that were not fruits or vegetables and it's working like a charm, but with cantalope, water melon, straw and blue berries, it's so easy to stay on track, not to mention the wonderful zucchini in my yard that I sautee with a little olive oil, onion and garlic pepper grinder, eat it like that or add some eggs and lf cheese and make an omlett.  Can't wait til my tomatoes ripen, then it will be beefsteaks and red onion salad for weeks to come. . .

Well I hope you all are doing well and I will try to catch up while my boss is in court this morning. . .

Take care, have a wonderful day and I wish you all the peace and strength to get through the harder things in life. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Hello Ruth and OFF,

I'm stopping by to say a quick hello.  I haven't been on here nearly as much as I used to.  I guess it's the busy summer months.

Our daughter stayed for over a week and we really enjoyed her visit.  She left to go back to New York yesterday.  What a delight.  Our granddaughter came over and spent the night.  Sunday was a great pool day with steamed crabs and corn on the cob - YUM - we were out there all day - lol

Well, I need to get back.  Have a wonderful day everyone!

Debbie

Hi Ruth and my OFF family:

It's kind of cloudy and amazingly only 83 degrees here ... but when I stepped out to get the paper, still felt steamy. Yesterday, my boss Stacey, who lives in the same apartment complex, called me and asked me if I wanted to come down to the pool. I didn't feel like swimming, but decided to grab my iced coffee and a hat and go down and sit at the edge of the pool and talk with her. It was so hot, I wish I had put my suit on and gotten in the pool. But I dangled my feet in the pool at least. I thought about getting out there this morning early, but I was lazy.

I'm sitting around this morning waiting for my washer/dryer to be delivered. Have to get out and check out the laundry area ... it's off the patio and I haven't gotten out there yet. I actually just cleared a path to the slider door just yesterday. I emptied out another wardrobe box, plus another, plus dumped a bunch of broken-down boxes in the Dumpster. Plus, I put my new lampshade (had to buy one because the old lampshade was destroyed by the packers) on the lamp, put on a lampbulb and plugged it into the timer so I'll have light when I come home at night. The pile of boxes is going down in the spare bedroom.

The maintenance man came in while I was at the pool and put the PUR filter that I had bought on my kitchen faucet; I could have done it myself but I haven't found my wrench yet. Plus, he snaked out the tub again, so hopefully it will drain better. It's great having a maintenance man ... I don't have to worry about doing this stuff myself.

Well, I need to get into the shower and get my butt in gear. Have to get out to check out that laundry room.

Have a good day. Ruth, I'm rooting for the American League All-Stars. I loved seeing Big Papi win the home run derby yesterday.
