Good mornin' ya'll.  I'll look for your check-in later Pat.

I got an e-mail from Cheap Tickets saying my flight from here to OR in August was changed. I leave 3 hours earlier from here, so I have a 4 hr, lay-over in Atlanta, instead of 1.  BUT...they didn't change tickets for my DH and 2 grandsons who are travelling with me. My ticket was bought separately since I am staying longer.  Anyway, I don't mind the extra layover, I'll just read. But it will be a pain for our DIL to get us to the airport separately. I e-mailed them and they said to call. So I will do that today.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  We went to bed about the time most fireworks were starting.  The noise didn't bother us at all!!

Back to the gym and water aerobics this morning. Our humidity is still way down, but our weatherman says that will end this week.  Oh well, it IS NC afterall.

Have a fantabulous day!

Good morning Pat and everyone who follows,

It sure IS Monday!  This is day 3 or 4 in our present heat wave.  It's supposed to get up to 99 today, 100 tomorrow.  It'll be in the 90s all week long.  I guess I know where I'm staying as much as possible!

The weekend was nothing special.  This little hick town doesn't do anything to celebrate the 4th  *but* a bunch of the neighbors brought in some really cool (but illegal) fireworks and had them going off for about a half hour last night.  I was very happy to be able to see fireworks that were live, NOT on tv.  My kids and Iwatched Independence Day.

Today I may be ferrying people around in my car and/or hiding from the heat.

Have a good one all!
Cassie

Going to be another hot/humid one here today -- calling for 90's the next three days.

Quickly put a load of towels in my washer in the garage this morning, so they can finish up and not create too much more heat.  It was 80 degrees in the garage when I opened the door this morning.  Not much going on with me today.   I was going to go out to Wal Mart for a couple items, but think I will wait till tomorrow -- I'm off wor****il Wednesday.  Have to weigh in at TOPS at 5:30 but no meeting because of the holiday.....I hope I can stay even or lose a little.   I gave up eating wt. control oatmeal w/peanut butter for breakfast -- just too many calories and the scales are starting back down.  Instead I'm having carbmaster yogurt and a South Beach protein bar for 220 calories and 20 gm. of protein.

Didn't see any fireworks either live or on TV.....

Well, guess I better check on the laundry.....have a great day.

We had a wonderful weekend of camping with family and friends.  Although yesterday's festivities were all canceled due to pouring rain all day.  We spent the day at our son's home (us and 20 or 30 others).  We just put our lawn chairs in the garage and had a great time.  the kids played in the rain and lots of fun too.

But while we were having fun, a good friend of mine wasn't.  Pam and her husband Rick raise miniature horses and pulled a wagon in the parade on Saturday.  On the back of the wagon, their mothers were sitting on lawn chairs.  Something happened that the horses came loose from the wagon and they bolted.  the wagon jerked.  Rick's mom fell off backward and hit her head.  Pam was thrown off too.  She suffered a ruptured spleen.  But Betty (in her 80s) suffered a head injury.  Last time I heard, they had disconnected life support, but she was still breathing on her own.  Brain dead.  So its just a matter of time.  This is just horrible.  Rick and Pam lost their oldest son to suicide several years ago and now this.  Tragedy seems to follow them everywhere.  They are such good people.  She is the county treasurer and was in the parade because she's up for re-election this fall.  I'll go see them this afternoon.  I spent so many days with them after Brad's death.  Pam has never been the same.  I'm afraid this will put her over the edge.  I do thank God that Pam's mom (92) wasn't hurt and that her grandchildren weren't on the wagon.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your friends and their family. Such a tragedy.

Hi Eileen. Actually, ours was a separate incident similar but on opposite sides of the state of Iowa.  Goes to show that horses, although beautiful animals can get "spooked"  and are difficult to control when they are.   I love horses, but am a little intimidated by them, as one got away from me when I was in high school and I was terrified.  My daughter was injured when a horse got spooked by lightening and took off running.  She couldn't get control, so she jumped off and broke her ankle.  The horse was headed toward a busy highway, so she felt like jumping off was safer.
