Are you eating?
My guess is yes. But what? Are you eating enough...yes, it DOES matter. Are you eating enough protein, some at each meal? Are you keeping track of your portions and calories? Yes....it really, really does matter!
I have found that when I think I am eating, say 1/4 cup of something, if I take it back off my plate and actually measure it, usually it's less, but sometimes it's more like 1/3 cup. At the end of the day you either end up not eating enough or too much, simply by not measuring your portions.
Now, I'm honestly not asking you to measure everything you eat at every meal, but just to remind yourself of portion size, try measuring your food for just a few days to see if your eyes really are bigger than your stomach.
Yesterday:
bkfst burrito
1/2 banana
pb&j
yogurt w/ granola
steak, German potato salad
fiber one bar
Hope you have a dandy day!

Good points Susan. I keep telling the support group members to measure, not eye-ball portions.
Some things I no longer measure, like cottage cheese, but use the same small bowl every time. It hold the right amount for a meal.
Last night I had no sugar added butter pecan ice cream. Out came the measuring cup.
My eyes got my up to 320 lbs and can't be trusted.

I agree Susan...if I don't measure, I'm setting myself up for either reactive hypoglycemia or dumping...our brains cannot be "TRUSTED"
today...I'm doing more research on this carb counting...boy my poor head hurts from all of this information.
Breakfast: 1/2 c greek yogurt, 3/4 c puffed wheat cereal ...14 carbs...11 protein..no fat...yeah..maybe I am getting the hang of this
Snack will be : graham cracker (1 sheet ) with peanut butter
Lunch: don't know yet..maybe yogurt and cereal again
Snack: graham cracker with pb or 1/2 banana and pb
Dinner:
going to a wedding..pig roast...so I will need to be very careful... will have some pork, maybe a tsp of potato salad and some beans..green salad if they have it...wedding cake ...UMMM MAYBE NOT !!!
Snack again: I;ll stick to graham cracker a peanut butter
Shoot thats only 6 meals...well I'll have to try to fit in two more somehow.... SEE THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING..
Susan if you have any words of wisdom for me...I"M ALL EARS !!!

Good morning Susan.....yes I do still measure somethings. A lot of things I have over and over and use the same dishes so I pretty well have that down. I think it is a good idea to even check those portions once in a while just to be sure!!

B-High Protein Drink
S-beef jerky
L-High Protein Drink
S-yogurt
D-chicken and broccoli

Yesterday, Day 3, still truckin'....Or paddlin', actually...
2 coffee
B: cottage cheese and grapes
S: orange protein shake
L: salsa chicken with corn and beans
2 orangeade
S: yogurt with 1/4 cup lowfat granola and two pieces of watermelon (about 1/2 cup each)
Decaf
D: breaded tilapia fried on a little olive oil, with sauteed swiss chard and onions. Yummy
S: Skinny Cow chocolate truffle bar
calcium and MOV's, one each. Gotta improve on that.
Today not such a good day. Yard sales, and my friend didn't want to stop for lunch. After breakfast at 7:30, only had a Fiber One bar and a cookie about 11 am. I'm just eating lunch now at 4 pm, and it's not setting too well. Will have to take my time, and eat a very late supper.
If I wait too long to eat, it's hard to choke anything down. Almost feels like it's sticking. Anyone else have that problem?

I think it's some of both. Eating too fast and not chewing enough. I know that when I start to get the "yucky" feeling, I stop for a few minutes, then start again, taking my time, and the feeling passes. I usually have a protein bar or something with me to stave off the hungries, but I used that 3 hours before we got back home. Therefore the cookie, which we DID have on hand.
I guess I just have to be more forceful when I say, " I HAVE to eat. NOW!!!!"
Imagine me, having to work on being forceful....
Ya think?
Of course, my tribulations during the day didn't save me from myself when I ate the second cookie at 10 pm yesterday.
Even with that, the scale is staring to smile again. Instead of smmirking...

Candy, no one else will make sure we eat but us. I have had to adjust how I schedule my appointments, making sure I factor in time for lunch and snacks. The other stylists used to get uppity about it when a client would call in and ask for an appointment during one of those time slots, and I would just tell them I had to have time to eat. They don't ask anymore. Two of the three battle with 10-15 lbs up and down, hardly eating during the day, but they make good money. Personally, I'll take a few extra bucks and better health!
