TGIF--what's new?
Good mornin', ya'll.
Well yesterday I think it officially got hotter than he**. Our heat index was 107!! And oh so humid! In the heat of the day was our grandson's 17th birthday party. They have a nice pool in the backyard and they rented a HUGE water slide. Bigger than the house. It only cost $100 for 24 hours. DIL had to pick it up and set it up and break it down and return it, alone (well with help from her sons). But for $100 about 30 kids had a grand time. She ordered pizza and had cupcakes instead of a big cake. So much easier. My DH and I didn't stay too long. Too hot. The girls came home about 9. Our daughter stayed for the 'adult party'. I guess margaritas and getting caught up on all the family/neighborhood gossip. The Oregon grandson stayed the night there with his older male cousins and a few other boys (young men).
SOOOOO, my DH and I are the only ones up. Our DIL just stopped by on her way to return the water slide. I have been to the gym and showered and dressed. I have to go to WM for a few key grocery items (toaster strudels, milk, chips). Looks like I'll be going alone. I spend a LOT less money that way. The girls want to go to the mall today. Our mall isn't much compared to their's (Clackamus Town Center in Portland, OR), but I'm sure there will be boys there for them to drool over. The girls are 13. I am so glad our granddaughter brought her cousin. The boys are glad, too. They still consider their little cousin a pest!
Better go. I have a kid up and ready for breakfast.
Have a fantabulous day.
Already 79 degree and it's only 7:50 a.m. ... hot and hotter ... my body is not adjusting. My friend Roxane said I would tolerate the heat better this time around (better than I did when I was in Georgia) ... well, I don't think so. Even in my air-conditioned apartment, I'm sweating so much ... especially when I'm moving around in the kitchen and unpacking stuff. And that's what I've been working on mostly. Got to digging out the canned goods yesterday ... geez, didn't realize I had so many cans! Definitely don't need to buy any tomatoes or tomato sauce, paste, soup, etc. Or vitamins ... I have plenty of vitamins and calcium.
The boxes in the kitchen area are going down. I did find the HDMI cable for my TV because the cable guy is coming today to install the DVR/HD box for my TVs, so I can get my baseball games. I can see some games but not as many as I'd like ... saw the White Sox win their ninth straight yesterday afternoon. Go Sox! Finally they start playing well and I won't be able to watch them live anymore (well, that's all right ... I'd rather be working).
I was supposed to have my phone/Internet hooked up yesterday but AT&T dropped the ball ... now it'll be Monday. That was the best they could do. I still have my cell phone (they dropped the ball on that, too), and I'm finding a wireless network to hook onto, but I want my own Internet and phone. I was not happy ... the best they could do was to waive the connection fee. They were going to have me hooked up by July 2 but the rep pulled some strings. I was so angry. I have been a longtime customer, and this is how they treat me?
Scooter woke me up at 5:30 this morning, wanting affection and food. We will have to remedy that ... next week when I start working 3 to midnight, I'm not getting up early to feed him. Oh, I met with my boss yesterday ... she lives in the same apartment complex ... she stopped by on her way to work. I start working Tuesday. So I have an extra day to unpack and find my clothes.
Well, have a good day. I have a day of unpacking and pitching. Put out three bags out of trash this morning, took three bags to the dumpster yesterday. I have boxes all over the house ... have to either take those to the dumpster or find someone who will take them. I hate the thought of throwing out the boxes; I'd rather recyle them.
See y'all.
