Could it possibly be gout? My husband has flareups in his left ankle whenever he overdoes physical stuff. The ankle was broken many years ago and I think gout looks for "easy" targets.  Of course anti inflammatories are what help. . . a no no for us.

I wondered about gout, Karen.  But when my husband's flares up, it is red and inflammed and it's painful to even touch it.  I don't have those symptoms, but I guess it can be different in everyone.    I won't find out the results of the x-rays until tomorrow.  I guess if it turns out to be gout, there is medication I can take for it.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Hi Laureen and my OFF family:

My little condo is a flurry of activity. The packers are here packing up my life. I had done a lot of stuff the past week but now the hard stuff begins. There are two young men and a young women working on the packing. I just put a bunch of stuff in my my car for my friend Jeanine's rummage sale for her cat rescue. I could still probably do more but right now I have a headache and my knee is hurting like the dickens. I have bruises and blood spots all up and down my arms and legs. I look like someone's beating me up.

Talked to Jeanine just now; she says Nettie's doing well but thinks she may have a vision problem, which may be why she had problems getting up on the bed. I think she also has kidney disease, because I've noticed much fewer clumps in the litter box since she's been gone. I'm going to take a bunch of stuff over to Jeanine's rummage sale this afternoon and then say goodbye to Diva and Nettie and Jeanine and all her cats.

Well, that's all for me. I guess I should do something around her ... more pitching, now that the packers are doing the work. Have a good day.

Laureen, glad to see you this morning and hear you're getting back to your support group, Sometimes the extra effort is as important as the meeting itself. It shows us that we're work what ever it takes to be successful.

Did you know that studies show that people who attend just 5 support group meetings a year are 77% more likely to reach their goal and maintain it?  Interesting.

Yesterday I had two things happen...one really great, the other....not so sure about.
First, I ran into my former salon owner who was so negative about my WLS and said "as soon as she can start eating again, she'll gain all of the weight back".  It has been a major motivator for me for 3 years now. Well, we ran into each other at the beauty supply and I wish I had a camera. She just stood in front of me with her mouth hanging open, staring at me. We chatted a bit, and her parting comment was " glad to see you're still looking good".  I smiled all the way to work.

Now, tell me your opinions. One of our older clients asked that we have a suggestion box, for what reason, no one knows. The owner made one up to be funny and gave it to the lady when she came in on Tuesday. She said her suggestion was for us to be open 24/7 so she could have someone to chat with and a place to go visit. Cute.
Well, yesterday the box was sitting on the counter, away from the main area of the salon, and for grins and giggles, decided to see if there was anything in it. Mind you, the lady didn't actually put anything into the box, she was really kidding. So, I stick my hand into the box to pull out the one and only slip of paper in it. Guess what it said?  "Susan needs to be fired"!!!

Welllll., I laughed out loud at the irony of the person who the suggestion was directed at would actually pull it from the box, but them I started thinking, what if someone really meant it? I'm old enough to realize you can't be everyone's cup of tea, but geeze. If it was meant to be funny, it's pretty warped. If they meant it, then I don't know what to do.

Alrighty then. Off to get bkfst and water the lawn. You all have a great day!

Thanks Gary!

Susan,

I'll bet you felt good walking away from that small minded salon owner, though most people know of someone who went this route and gained their weight back, but as you said, support helps and I've seen it in my own group where people who stopped coming to group, had significant regain issues and felt ashamed of it. . .  sad, but for someone to say what she did, smallminded for sure. . .

As for the suggestion box, don't let it get to you, probably a joker.

Hugs, L

Susan,  There are  some nasty people out there. I have a coworker who is upset because her "tax dollars" paid my medicare insurance bill. Not quite sure how she came to that conclusion but so be it. Maybe when I win the lottery I will offer to pay back her tax dollars if she gives me an itemized statement  Go to my Dr today for my 8week post op. Feel fine but wt loss is very slow dispite following all directions and working out 5+ times a week at the gym. At least it's coming off not on
Have a wonderful day all my new friends here

Just wanted to tell you, that you are probably in what is one of the many phases of shock to your body's system, after all you did alter it and to boot are not giving it what is has come to know and love, Lots of excess calories. . .

I am not sure, but when you have the time, I blogged on my profile (just click on my photo, I think, and it will take you to my profile) and you can see, that I, too, lost my weight, for what seemed like, to me, very slowly, but the reality was, it came off and not without great efforts on my part.

I don't know your history, but if you were someone like me, who did every diet known to mankind, then you probably have a somewhat sluggish metabolism and so long as you follow what your are told to do, you will do just fine.  Just don't make the scale your god and get your protein, vitamins, water and exercise in, you will do fine.  Also, don't compare yourself to others, we are all different, if you have 100 lbs. or less to lose, it can also be slower, as well as sometimes being in our golden years.  Be patient and do what you are doing, you will shouting from the rooftops soon enough with all the WOW moments that are ahead of you. . .

Wishing you the best as you continue this sometimes wacky roller coaster ride post-WLS.

Laureen
