Just found you
I had my pre-op physical today and was told the only thing against me was my age. (60+) and wanted to talk to other people closer to my age that had WLS.
Has anyone had any unusual complications because of age? Would you do it all over again?
My only complications came pre-op.... they test you completely. THey found breast cancer and some heart irregularities. So the heart thing was ruled out with further testing and I had cancer treatment. I think it all delayed my RNY by about 8 months, but I've had no complications since. Yes, I would do it again. Welcome! I had VSG in February. I'll be 59 next month. No problems, other than having to lose my gall bladder last month! I think I'm taking a little longer to regain strength than some people, but would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm not weak as a kitten, just some generalized weakness and sometimes shakiness in the morning. After I've hydrated myself I start feeling stronger. It just annoys me because I've always been a morning person and I just can't do things in the morning like I could before. May just have to change my ways just like I've had to change my eating habits.

Welcome to this little corner of OH, where people are friendly and quite supportive of any on this journey, even some who have not had this surgery. . .
As for age and complications. . . I was 52 when I had my surgery, no complications and I am only sorry I waited so long, as my life has been greatly enhanced by having chosen this path and losing a small person. . .
Wishing you the best, no matter what you decide and in the meantime, feel free to read some profiles, by clicking on our pictures or names, though some have theirs set to privacy and some don't have too much information, but you can get a glimpse of what this journey is like by reading some of that, mine is definitely there for the reading.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

It was this forum that finally gave me the confidence to go ahead with my surgery. Now I am MUCH younger than I was then. I have energy I haven't had in years. It feels good not to feel like I'm 100.
WELCOME! Sue
