Breast reduction

Hi everyone-

I had my breast reduction surgery yesterday.  It went very well--I will be going to the doctor this morning to find out how much in weight he took off.

Other than being sore in the chest area **** is great) and having a slight sore throat because of the anesthesia, I'm fine.  I arrived at the hospital at 9, went in surgery at 11:30 and was back in the room by 3.  I ate some soup and a turkey sandwich (had not had anything to eat since 9 the night before) and I was hungry.  I felt shaky and the food helped a lot.  I was on my way home at 5.

I will keep you all posted but even though it is only the next day, so far so good.

Thanks Debbie--I feel lighter already (lol).

He took 3 pounds off one side and 2 off the other along with loose tissue in the back and lipo.  Eventually, I think this will help get me to Onderland.

I will keep you all posted.

Hugs

You won't be sorry you had it done.  I'm not.  I even asked the girl who does my mammograms if she'd ever run into anyone with regrets, and she said absolutely not.  Everyone is thrilled, even years afterward.

The discomfort is minimal, and short term.  The drains, if you have them, are annoying, but tolerable.  The results are life changing.  No more backaches, sore shoulders, or rashes.

You're gonna be a happy girl.

Hi Candy,

I have heard that too.  Anyone who has had it has told me that the only regret is that they didn't do it a long time ago (much like RNY I think).

My PS didn't use drains.  He told me that he has moved away from it because of increased risk of infection.  I got antibiotics and pain pills and cloth ice packs and he told me ice only and no heat.

You are right.  Even already, this is the first morning that my neck hasn't been killing me from the minute I woke up in the morning.

I will definitely keep you posted.

Connie--thanks for the good wishes.  I already feel lighter.

I went to the PS this morning and got the bra that I have to wear for 3 weeks.  He took a total of 5 pounds off-3 off one side and 2 off the other.  I went from a DDD (G or H on the other side) to a D.  He suggested a C but I still want to lose another 40 pounds (20 if I am lucky) and I figure it should go down to that at another point.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't wake up with a sore neck and go through the day with it.  I feel pretty decent but I'm keeping the ice and pain pills and am trying to rest.  I overdid it a bit this morning after the PS visit (we went to the finer grocery store and got a few things) and I walked around there.

Hugs to you too.
