FOR THOSE THAT CAN'T SLEEP
found this in my womans world magazine and thought i would share it with you....SLEEP BETTER WITH THIS BEDTIME SNACK!
peanut butter and banana sandwich...1 slice oat bread, 2 TBLS peanut butter, crunchy or creamy, 1/2 small banana, thinly sliced, honey to taste. toast the bread, spread it with peanut butter, cover with banana slices and drizzle with a bit of honey on top.
peanuts...they contain trytophan, an amino acid that the body converts to the sleep inducing hormones melatonin and serotonin.
bananas...another source of tryptophan, they are ri*****arbohydrates, the "fuel" your body needs to turn tryptophan into sleep hormones.
honey...its a high-glycemic carb that digests quickly and speeds the newly made sleep hormones to the brain.
oats...they're one of the only food sources of melatonin a hormone essential for turning on your brains "sleep" switch.
so if anyone tries this let us all know if it helped you to sleep better. i am going to try this if i can find some cheap oat bread tonight. :-)
i tried it last night and i slept good...wonder if you could use oatmeal instead of the oat bread?? hmmmm
THANKS for responding to this post connie...so many including myself do not respond to many posts anymore...not sure why the others don't but my reason is this pc is SLOW so i hate trying to respond most times.
hope you are feeling better connie...hugs
