I'm on my way to bed and just wanted you to know that I'm doing much better- today I cleaned house a little and when my husband got home from work we went out and bought me a car. I was able to drive it for the test drive and I drove it home in the dark in the rain. It's not brand new- it's a 2008 but with only 16,000 miles, so it was perfect for me.  It's very pretty and has lots of goodies which I could never have afforded on a new car. Best of all- BRAND NEW TIRES! I'm sure I was driving like an old lady- (no offense- but I'm only 55) but I was proud of myself. I've decided to drive to school tomorrow- not quite on time- and work the day. It's the last day of school and it will feel good to me to be able to officially be back! I will have missed only 8 days of school.... Yeah!
Thank you so much to those that have been responsive to my pain... even though this is the internet, it is definitely a connection that can be important.

Congrats on the new car, Julia.

When I totalled my car last year I got a 2008 w/12,000 miles.  And I so understand 'drive like an old lady'... like an old lady USED to drive....not anymore... we are the new 40's...

You've done exceptionally well for the trauma you've gone through.  I so know your personality with the 'attack' mode.  I do the same thing.  Face it and move on.  Good on you for facing your fears.... well, done.

Hey Julia,

Glad to hear you got a "new" car with stuff you would not have had on a NEW car. . .  what kind of car did you buy?

Most of all I am glad to hear that you are well enough to go back to work, even if it is the end of the school year, you've done a marvelous job on taking care of you.

Hugs, Laureen

Happy to hear you are moving forward after such a horrible trauma.  You endured a lot, so only 8 days off is fantastic!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Good for you!  I'm so pleased that you've come through this so well.  But then, I've met you, and I knew you had it in you.

Aren't the bells and whistles in a new car fun?  My new (used) one that I bought several years ago does everything but say good morning to me...

Glad you're doing so well.

Hey, you're as old as me ... and there are days I feel real old ... and I'm sure that will be the case at my new job where everyone is in there 20s.

I would like a new car, but decided to wait until I get to Louisiana so I don't have to register it twice (Mary Kay convinced me).

Aloha Julia.......You are a women of strength! I have following your postings about your accident and I am blown out of the water by your consistent progress toward getting better and for ridding yourself of the memories that could haunt. You are even driving already! That, to me, is just awesome. Some people, after an accident as dramatic as yours, will never drive again.

You give me inspiration galore!! I am so glad that you shared all of this adventure with us. I'm sending you a very long armed hug from across the sea....very gentle....don't wanna hurt you in any way.

With much aloha,

Maui Karen
