Good morning all!

I got up early (not quite as early as I wanted to) and took myself and Buddy for a nice 3.25 cardio walk.  I did not run today....my running coach told me to do it every other day as I'm a beginner.  Probably a good idea due to the swelling too... which did not get crazy after yesterdays run.  Maybe I shook something loose and it will get better now....HAHAHA....wishfull thinking.

I'm going to try to get in the pool later today to do some water aerobics and water weights.

I'm sitting out on the lanai right now enjoying a cup of tea in the cool morning before the heat starts.  It's about 75 degrees right now but the sun is not beating down back here yet so it's nice.  Birds are singing, buddy is enjoying out here too.

Starting to really get excite about my trip home. ..can't wait to see family and friends that I have not seen in 18 months (some it's been 2 years). This means they have not seen me since I lost all this weight...some saw me when I was down about 75 but I've lost almost 200 lbs since most of them saw me. I've sent pictures along the way to most of them but still I think they will be shocked (and happy).

This is going to be the BIGGEST food challenge I've faced since I started on my journey.  But you know me, I love a good challenge....LOL.   I'm determined not to fall back on old habits with old friends. I'll take my food journal, I plan on walking or jogging almost every day (I hope I do it!), I just found a 5 k that is happening pretty close to where I'll be so I'm going to register for it today.  I'll fill up with water before meeting them for meals and will just have to push away from deserts (except maybe my sister in law who is the best baker!).   Anyone have any great tips for not gaining weight during vacation?  I guess the best thing is just to do what I normally do every day...

I'm going to make some oatmeal pancakes now for breakfast.....should be an interesting experiment.

Have a great day!

Ruth,

Mostly vacation takes not letting yourself get so busy that you forget to eat and therefore get that I can eat a horse kind of feeling. . .

Not sure if you are using oatmeal or the Quaker Oats, Oatmeal Pancake Mix, which I use regularly and love, I usually put blueberries in it, can only eat 2 of them (sometimes not even), but they are yummo. . .

Enjoy your vacation. . .  are you driving or flying?

Enjoy your day!

Laureen

Hi Laureen,

I used organic steel cut oats.  I didn't even know there is an oatmeal pancake mix.  Basically I took the same ingredients I normally use for my morning oatmeal but thinned it out, ground some of the oats in flour and added some baking powder and egg whites to hold it all together.  I was very pleased how they came out and they are basically fat free.  :-)    I'm going to make a bunch more this afternoon and freeze them for a quick and easy grab and go breakfast.

I'm flying home.  Bought the tickets and counting the days......

Thanks for the tips.

Good Morning Judy and friends, I'm not working today as I have a medical massage appointment at 11am. I plan to enjoy my morning with a cup of coffee on the deck. The sun is shining, it's nice outside and no wind blowing at least at the moment! After my massage I'll stop at the gym. I've been letting that slide the past week and that is not good. When my exercise slides I also tend to let other not healthy things back into my life like junk food carbs! Bought some Fritos to put in a taco salad. This morning my fingers are so swollen from all of that extra salt in those chips. Will I never learn?

Looks like I'll be heading back to my daughter's on Sunday. I'll stay most of the week returning home for a few days and then back over on and off until Briley arrives June 28th. That is her scheduled arrival date. She is now close 5 lbs. What a relief that is. We were so worried after Erin's car accident in mid March that she would arrive way too early. Still small but nothing like those tiny preemies in the NICU!

Yesterday when I talked to her she was so teary. "Why am I so tired and grumpy?" Duh? Eight months pregnant, mother of 2 yr old twins, working full time, and a husband who coaches high school baseball and football? Gee, I can't imagine why  you are tired?

So I'll be personal assistant/nanny/cook/ for the next month or so. I am so glad that I am available to do this. I'll work the rest of this week and then not be available the final 2 weeks of school.

Cindy, my heart goes out to you and Ron. Any kind of injury is so hard on an elderly person's entire system.  Hospice was wonderful with my aunt. She had cancer and was in a nursing home her final month. Hospice took over and totally managed her pain care and everything else. They were able to keep her pain free and at that stage that was  the best we could wish for. I'll keep  you and your mom in my most positive thoughts. It's so hard to watch someone we love suffer.

Even when I don't have time to post I pop in and catch up on everyone's lives. Know that I am thinking of you. Often during the day I will pause and think about one person or another and wonder how they are doing. It always amazes me how much this little online family has enriched my life. I know about parts of the country and friends who live there that I would have NEVER known were it not for off!

Sending you good wishes for the day.

Good Morning Judy, Julia, George, Debbie Jean, Jo, Wanda, Pat, Eileen, Karen and those not here yet. . .

It is looking pretty nice outside right now, the big puffy clouds are making way for the sun, though the next couple of days are going to be pretty hot, but it appears the weekend will be nice, mostly sunny, with temps in the 70s and low 80s, which is great, cause I'm throwing my first bbq in a couple of summers on Saturday, it's always nice to be able to have the weather cooperate. . .

Hoping to see my older daughter this evening as she is in PA to train someone, just in for 2 days/1 night, so hopefully it works out. . .

Otherwise, it's just the usual ho humm day. . .

Wishing all those with life challenges, the strength and peace to get through. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Hi Judy and all my OFF friends,
Julia, good for you getting past the accident.  Cindy, I hope your Mom's pain is managed and she is made comfortable.  Wanda, glad your gallbladder surgery is healing.  Judy, I hope your pain goes away.
It's hot here too.  I meant to go to Walmart yesterday and get a lightweight window air conditioner for our bedroom but our Tiger Cub Graduation went to 8:30 and I didn't feel like it.  We have one now, but it's old and weighs so much that it is an orchestrated project for us to get it in the window.
The Tiger Cub advancement ceremony was great but one of the boys and his parents didn't show up.  I've prepared them for weeks with emails and notices, I just can't figure it out.  We have a bridge for the boys to cross over, going from Tiger Cubs to Wolf Cubs.  And there is a candle lighting ceremony too.  It is so special that I hate that one boy missed it.
We went to Costco on Sunday and picked up a table that matches our outdoor chairs.  It's a black diamond pattern mesh with wrought iron legs.  It's only 3 feet square but that is the perfect size for our screened in porch.  Just enough for hubby and I to eat at outside.
There's nothing going on this weekend except for my marching in the memorial day parade.  I'm toying with maybe asking some people over for a picnic.  We'll see if I can get the house in order the next couple of nights after work.
Have a good day everyone.
((HUGS))
