Today is a quite day for me, yesterday was spectaular as we drove about an hour away for a wonderful 50th Annivsary party for our friends. We were about 45 people for a sit down dinner at their house and then dancing and talking for a couple of more hours. They had 10 members of their 2 families over from Germany so it was great to meet new people. Also saw a few friends that we haven't seen in a while and was fun seeing their faces when they realized who I was... NSW...
Tomorrow is a holiday here in Canada but my DS has to work and DIL has gone off for a wellearned weekend with her sister and so I get to babysit my 2 grans for a few hours.
Enough for now - love to all of you and especially Eileen in her move and new job...

Good Morning Janet!

I guess I'll be more of a regular here now. I only have one week left of school and I am most likely on disability for that week. I had this idea in my head that my recovery would be very brief and that I'd be in a new car driving to work on Monday. Best laid plans huh?
I am getting better... it's just so s l o w..... Yesterday I went to our favorite brewery for a bowl of soup at lunchtime. It was wonderful to see people and I had a glass of wine so with wine and good pain drugs I was feeling very little pain. Unfortunately I can't get used to the wine thing helping with the pain. So now I am still in some pain but it is bearable with narcotics.
My plans for today- sleep, eat a little, read, watch tv, a bit of computer, maybe do some dishes. It's my life for a while, but I am just glad to be here.
One more thing- this is kind of weird, but on my way down the hill even as I tumbled I thought that maybe I'd be seeing my dog Darla soon. I was thinking that maybe the rainbow bridge is true and that she'd welcome me. I still miss her so much- I wish she were here to lay with me as I recover. Isn't it funny what you think about when you think you are going to die?
I'm so happy for you Eileen... you were definitely deserving a job and it shows that you are great at what you do.
I hope that your recovery from surgery is fast Connie. Good thoughts to everyone else that are dealing with trials and tribulations. Where would we be without those?

I was so sorry to read of your traumatic crash but happy to see that you are recuperating.  I really can't imagine being in a vehicle that is crashing and rolling down a hill.  It's no wonder that one would go into a state of shock after living through this when the outcome could have been so dire.
It was interesting to read of your thoughts of Darla during your accident.  Dogs can be so loving and comforting and your thoughts of her attest to the place she has in your heart.
There was a Twilight Show years ago where an old man and his dog died.  The old man was welcomed through the pearly gates, but he was told that his dog couldn't enter.  The old man was flabbergasted and decided not to go in as "it would be a hell of a place" if heaven didn't allow dogs, and, of course, it was!  He travelled farther down the road and found the real pearly gates and he and his dog were welcomed.
I don't remember many Twilight Zone episodes, but that one has stayed with me for a long time because, like the old man, I think that heaven wouldn't be heaven without my dogs.
Hope you recover quickly!

Hi Margaret,
I remember that episode too. Thanks for the reminder and the healing thoughts. Darla is definitely there.

Julia,

Glad you are on the mend and that the meds are helping make the pain bearable.

I don't think it weird at all that you would think of seeing your dear Darla, while I am not looking to join those I've lost yet, I do hope that Dillinger will be my guide to the rest of those I've lost. . .

Funny story this morning, Roxie woke me at 6 a.m. I opened the door and let her out, she looked at me and was like, I don't want out, came back into the house and I got in bed and she jumped up, letting me know both verbally and physically that what she woke me up for was loving. . .  so she got some and while my intention was to sleep in this morning, I got up and thought, hmmm, I can make the 7:30 AA meeting and then come home and hopefully it will be nice enough to take her to the dog park (it rained here last night, with potential more rain on the way). . .  dog backwards is GOD and so I felt like a message was being made. . .  maybe it sounds silly to some, but I am always looking for the god voice wherever it comes from. . .  I am not a religious person, but believe in the spirit of god in each being. . .  anyway, I hope you and I are right in our beliefs of what comes when we leave this earthly plain. . .

Hugs, Laureen

What would life be without our furry buddies? Speaking of dog parks- I'm going for a short visit to the dog park in a few minutes. I'll sit on a bench and watch. It will do my soul good to watch those happy sweeties. My daughter is driving - we'll just stay for an hour. Hi to Roxie from Sookie... if we lived closer they could play!

Janet, OFFr's,

I'm late to the party, but then again, I was not late in getting up, see my post to Julia, as I won't reha**** . .  .  I did have a wonderful day, I managed to fit everything in that I wanted to, took my Roxie girl to the dog park,  came home drove back to the outlets to make a return and buy some clothes for my granddaughter's birthday in two weeks and then came home to cook for my work week, made some turkey chili, mock pizza and even baked a banana walnut bread (WLS friendly version) and now I'm getting ready to watch the end of LOST, anyone else tha****ch it lost like me?  It will be bedtime after that and then the inevitable part of life comes upon waking tomorrow. . .  WORK . . .  but that is tomorrow and I just wanted to say hey, it's glad to see Karen S posting and everyone else, so happy for Eileen, hoping for good things for Connie and glad Julia is healing, can't remember everything else, but I hope you all had a good day doing whatever it was you were doing!

Hugs, Laureen

Well, I started this thing so guess I better post.

SLEPT all day Saturday and Saturday night. Got up at 7 a.m. this morning and got to $4 about 8:30... stayed until 9:30.. came home and did some laundry.  Left at 11:30 and met a friend for lunch and another stop at $4 for iced coffee before heading home.  Saw Mike and Jodie at the hamburger place next door so went and joined them. Ended up at Lowe's for solar lights for the flower bed and then to Garden Ridge for a wooden swing.

Now I'm feasting on a Johnsonville brat and a little saurkraut.  I'm done.

Nothing planned now but some more laundry and may enjoy the swing later in the evening.

Hope everyone had a good day.. and those facing surgery... quick healing.

Janet
