WHAT'S GNU WITH YOU THIS SUNDAY!!!
Wishing you the best of all outcomes with minimal discomfort!

Good Morning Red!
Hope this lovely Sunday finds you all up and raring to go. We have "company acomin'" for dinner so spent yesterday cleaning. It needed a good one and "company" is about the only thing that will put me into high gear. I'd rather be out puttering and planting in the yard than gathering dust bunnies. But, with all of the construction and wind around us, it had to be done. Just need to do some dusting this morning and we'll be good to go. Mike did his token walk around with the toilet brush after I had spent about 2 hours working "around" him.
Son in law's high school baseball team lost their games yesterday so no state tournament for them next weekend. Which means I'll be here at home for another week or two before heading back to daughter Erin's for Baby watch and twin care.
School is out here June 10th and other than a couple of small commitments and subbing I don't have too much to do. I told Erin that I can come to help anytime after that. Josh will have spring football practice coming up (the life of a high school coach never slows down) so I'll just see how it goes for Erin.
I'm going to have a cup of coffee, read the Sunday funnies, and then ramp it up a notch or two. Hope you all have a nice day.

It's kinda cloudy (it was bright and sunny when I got up) but it's supposed to be very warm today. I guess it's getting me ready for my move down South. It's already 79. Time to get the air cranked, I guess.
I'm still on a high from getting the job. Made a bunch of phone calls last night ... called my friends Mary Kay, Brenda and Roxane, then my brother Ed and SIL Margaret; finally ran out of people who I wanted to talk to (or who I thought would be home at least ... never sure on some people). Watched baseball in bed and thought I was drowsy, but my mind was going a mile a minute and I couldn't sleep, so I got up and read for awhile until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. Then I slept great. I have so much to do ... sell some stuff, find movers or rent a truck and enlist friends to move me, find an apartment (sight unseen ... although I know what the outside looks like of several of them), pack, pitch, eat the perishable food in the fridge ... oh, you know, lots of stuff in the next three weeks or so.
On top of that, I got a letter from disability scheduling me for an appointment for an exam; so I'll go through with that and see where that will lead. Someone told me I can get preapproved, so I'll ask about that. I don't know how long I'll be able to work; maybe it will only be for two or three more years.
Hey Red, Monroe is just 4 1/2 hours from Dallas ... and there's Starbucks in town. Hint, hint!
Well, I've got an outing planned today. A former coworker (the Press' former religion editor and now a religion columnist) has a band that has some Press writers/editors in it. The band is called the Honeytones (his name is Charley Honey; really nice guy and a great writer) and they're playing at a food pantry benefit at a local brewpub. I went last year and had a lot of fun; saw a lot of coworkers and drank good beer (although one mug of 8 percent alcohol brew put me on my ass). So I'm going today at 4 p.m. and I'm going to celebrate ... some former coworkers will be there and it will be good to see them again. I'm in such a good mood I can't wait to enjoy good beer, good music, good friends.
And then of course, there's the finale of Lost tonight. Can't wait for that too. It's like the Super Bowl of bizarre shows.
Have a good day. Thank you, friends, for your support during my layoff. I couldn't have gotten through it without you!

Congratulations again on the new job! See, just when you think all the doors are closed, another one opens. I'm so pleased for you.
Just a thought.... Will the new place help at all with relocation costs? Maybe some help to move, or a sign on bonus? Might make it easier to decide how much to keep and how much to leave.
The next month will go SO fast!

You excitement is shining through and I am very happy for you. A new beginning and if you look back, it seems all things have fallen into place, you coming out of bankrutpcy when you did, you even had enough time for a nice vacation with your brother and now a whole new beginning!
Seems to me life gets good, just when we are about to furnish our rut! It's one of the reasons I kept believing that things would work out for me last year, wavering moments, but I honestly felt it would turn out ok and now I am finally feeling a sense of comfortable in this job, but it took me most of the year that I've been there. We can't always see the forest from the trees, but now the picture is clearer. . .
Best wishes, Laureen

Janet.....I always love it when you post, and this morning I actually have some time before the Sharks game (it's 7:30 a.m. and game is at 9:00 a.m.) to say Hi to you and everyone else.
Hate being MIA so much. I feel like "Gerald McBoingBoing" (something like that) lately with a lot of life happening. It's mostly good stuff.......like working with babies, AND in the Imua Family Services office filling in for receptionist. One day last week I tested babies at 5:30 a.m. and then went directly to Imua and worked til 4:30 there....that was a LONG DAY!!
This morning it is beautiful as usual, and I'm watching the tour boats chug into the harbor to take visitors on snorkeling trips and turtle watches. They might even see a late season whale while out there.....that would be a treat for sure.
My son and DIL just bought a home in Scotts Valley (close to Santa Cruz, Ca) and will be moving in sometime in July.. They are having the kitchen remodeled, but with their three little boys this is a perfect house......BIG bonus room downstairs for them to get wild and crazy, 4 bedrooms, 3 bath and a big field in the back for more romping and playing. They want me to come and help them with kids while they move in.....we'll see.
I am so happy for Eileen and LOVE hearing her so energized. Moving is a big job, but she will get a brand new start, and who knows what that will bring.
Sunday morning newspaper awaits.....plus a day of catching up on bill paying, cleaning, etc. etc. Not fun, but necessary.
Good results for anyone having surgery soon, and here's hoping all of you are having a life with a lot of laughter, love and contentment.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
