Rowing, sailing, and just paddling along. What's on your plate?

Good morning!

In preparation for my meeting with the Nut on Tuesday, I've really been trying to get in my 1400 cals a day. Not as easy as one would think, but I have been better. The result?  I've lost almost 3 lbs in two weeks!!!  I've known this is more than a theory, but after being MO for so long, it's hard to listen to people say it's okay to eat more, and that you should.

So, once again I will advise all of you to take a good look at your caloric intake and see if it could be too low. If you're not sure where you should be, there are some websites where you can calculate your resting metobolic rate, which will give you the LEAST amount of calories needed for your body to function. It's really true, you can't burn calories without calories TO burn!

Okay, off the soap box!

yesterday;

mini bagel w/ ff cream cheese and 1 slice thin bacon
fiber bar
chili colorado, few bites of rice and beans, 1 sm tortilla, 6 tortilla chips
popcorn at the movies
crustless spinach calzone

lattes, protein coffee and 100+ oz water

Hi Susan,

Your theory is correct.  I have added more calories and found I am losing weight.  Plus a little more exercise does help.  Thanks for all your sound advice.  It is really appreciated.

Coffee
B- Protein drink/banana
S- string cheese
L- cottage cheese and pineapple
S- Rolled up ham with Swiss cheese
D-  Ribs and green beans
S- Atkins bar

Peace

Mary

I am on my way.  What a ride it has been.

Hi Susan,
Hope all is well with you.
Are you still posting this thread?

I wanted to chime in that we not only have to eat enough but we have to accurately track/count the calories so we don't really eat to little or too much.  I just went back and looked at everything I've eaten the last 3 weeks (because each week I've gone up .2 or .4 and I don't know why) and I was supposed to find some mistakes.  Like....the Whey Protein I drink every day (sometimes twice a day) has had a formula change and the calories went up but I'm still counting it the old way!  In weigh****chers land this means instead of it being 2 points it's really 3....big difference!

Yesterdays food:

B- 1 egg, diced veg, 1/2 oz feta cheese,  toast, almond butter, honey. 4oz OJ, tea, tea, and more tea.
S- 1/2 of a really large apple (counts as 1 small apple)
L- 1 cup cottage cheese, salad
S- PB on lite wasa, 1/2 apple, 10gr 85% dk choc, coffee
D- Trout (bbq'd), grilled veg, watermelon

This was the first time I've had a whole trout cooked on bbq...it was delicious!!!!!  Matthew did a great job.

I agree!
When I went to the Nut last week, she asked me if I measured my food. Well, no, but I DO have a built in measuring device that I rely on...lol. I was assigned the task of measuring for at least a few days to see if I was accurate in my estimations. Sure enough, most times I would calculate more food than I was actually eating, say, counting a portion as 1/2 cup when I was only eating 1/4 c. So, there you are, it can go both ways, right?

As far as posting this thread, I just don't know. There seem to be fewer people joining in, and usually it's only you and Connie. I kind of feel silly posting what I eat for the world to see if I'm the only one.

Thanks for asking. I'm thinking.....

I've been pretty good with the measuring but scooping out a 1/2 cup of yogurt that is 80 cals and now finding the new brand we brought is 110 cals for the same 1/2 cup was a real eye opener!

I know what you mean about posting if only 1 or 2 respond.....I felt the same about the "exercise" thread but for now I'm sticking with it cause it's helping me too.

Personally I like the accountability of posting my food...only problem is some days I can't get here.  Having to post the days food helps me plan ahead of time.  I totally understand if you don't start the thread anymore.....maybe we can just add our food to the daily what's new thread.

If you do decide to post it I'll try to get here more regularly....if you decide not to, no problem.

Have a great day!!
