Hi Karen and my OFF family:
It's pouring rain here and lightning and thunder ... lots of wind ... yuck! My body doesn't like this weather at all. Yesterday I went to the pool, but the pool was closed. So there I was in suit underneath my clothes and I wanted to go look at job interview clothes. I hemmed and hawed about it, went to pick up my prescription at Walgreen's and thought, if I can find a handicapped spot right by Meijer's, I'll pop into the bathroom (which is right inside the door before you go into the main part of the store), get out of my suit and put on my bra and panties, then go shopping. Well, someone was pulling out of the handicapped spot right by the door as I pulled up ... so I guess it was ordained!
I went to Kohl's because I had this $10 gift card they sent me ... but they have no professional looking clothes anymore. I asked one clerk if they had any clothes for job hunting or that could be worn in an office, and she pointed me to this Apt.9 brand ... well, I looked at that, and it looked more like something street walkers might wear. So then I asked another clerk, and she said, "Oh, we don't carry those kind of clothes anymore, just trendy clothing." I guess it doesn't matter if people go to work looking nice. I said, "Well, you've lost my business. I'm going to Penney's." And I did.
I found a $70 gray pinstriped blazer for $23 and a pair of gray slacks also on sale for $22. I have a black shell to wear with that; that will be my Day 2 interview outfit. I have a light blue shell and black pants. I might need one other shell to wear for Day 3. But I couldn't find anything else at Penney's ... all their tops had sleeves that were too short ... doesn't anyone make clothing for the mature woman ... those of us with bat wings? Aaarrrgh!
When I got home, I had a check for $239 for an escrow surplus from the lender and a letter from Social Security about the disability application. It was a busy afternoon.
I have an appointment today with my psychologist and then will meet a former coworker for lunch at a Chinese restaurant (not a buffet). I'm going to do a little shopping after that ... going to this really nice candy store to buy some sugar-free candy for my mom's Mother's Day present since I'll see her next week, then to Meijer for my groceries (maybe I'll find that other shell there ... they have some good clothing and inexpensive, too).
Well, the rain is getting worse out there. Knees and back really hurt today. I'm surprised I don't have a headache. I need more coffee.
Have a good day, and stay dry.
morning karen and OFF....well we could be seeing more nasty storms later today which is fine with me. just the mood i am in right now. feeling so damed depressed sitting around doing nothing but worry over my family. sighs. i know there isn't anything i can do for them so why am i so depressed? because i am not there i guess. monday my sister is having surgey on her arm once again and hopefully this time it will be fixed right!!! last i talked to her she said her arm looked like it went through a meat grinder!!! it was also feeling numb. this will be her 4th maybe 5th time to get this arm taken care of. she will be going to UofM this time.
rick is coming down with a cold. he started coughing last night and is still coughing this morning. sighs...hope i don't get it.
hip and back is hurting today yet. took a pain pill last night and it helped some. was feeling pretty good up til the doorknob hit me in my backside the other night. should have been more careful i guess.
watched american idol last night and am happy that crystal is still there. i said from the start that i thought she would win and the runner up would be casey. so far i am on the right track with them.
need to find something to eat for breakfast. nothing sounds good right now. made french toast yesterday and that tasted awful to me. maybe i will have a hardboiled egg or an omlet. decisions decisions...
have a good day and know i am thinking of you all. :-\
The appt with the cancer surgeon went well for my sister last night. Her surgery is June 7. They seem optomistic that it has been caught very early and she should be good. Sis is scheduled for a biopsy of her breast today. The doc who did her exam last night at the cancer center said he couldn't find any evidence of a lump in her breast and he is very experienced at detection exams. So that may be a plus today as well.
I have NO plans this weekend, which is unusual. But my house needs two days worth of intensive cleaning so that's what I will be doing. I need to clean out the fridge and get rid of all the science experiments.
My niece (and Goddaughter) who got married in March just bought a cute little house. So I will try to get by and see it some time in the next week.
Nephew's graduation party is the next weekend. He's graduating from Boston University and is valedictorian. He also is moving on into BUs medical doctor program.
I've been eating a huge amount of chocolate lately and I have to cut it out.
I'm going to try to surprise my hubby by making him get in the car, after which, I'll drive him to Captain's Cove in Bridgeport. The ship used in The Mutiny on the Bounty will be in port this weekend and open for tours. He's a Navy man and loves boats/ships.
Good luck on everyone's endeavours. Hugs and best wishes for health.
Bev
I've been trying to stay off the boards and Facebook so I can get some work done - lol - yesterday was really difficult because I did entirely too much "Internetting."
DH and I had a nice anniversary dinner. Made crab cakes, a nice salad and corn, with some SF/FF cheesecake pudding with crumbled graham crackers on top. Afterwards, we had a quiet nigh****ching TV. He was in bed at 7:30 since the clock goes off at 3:50 a.m. - lol - we're real honeymooners, huh? LOL - That's okay, we had a lovely anniversary. Twenty-seven years is a long time in this day and age.
Need to get back to work here.....have a great afternoon everyone! Well wishes, happiness and good health to each of you!
