Rowing, sailing, and just paddling along. What's on your plate?

Morning, Glories!  Happy Mother's Day to one and all.

Yesterday was interesting, to say the least. I was late getting out the door so I needed something "to go". It ended up being a tuna sandwich on double fiber bread. Only ate about 3/4 of it and tossed the rest.
Then, Gary came to the salon for a cut and to take me out to lunch.  I kenw we were going out to dinner with friends, so I had a cup of black bean soup and a Greek salad. Yummy!

Dinner was amazing! We went to a restaurant that none of us had been to, but we'd all been wanting to try. We shared a plate of escargot (yes, I ate 2 snails and they were amazing!), then a salad of spinich and dried blueberries. I chose the halibut as my entree that was served over cheese grits. I had never had grits, and I really liked them, just started running out of "room". Gary and I shared a Grand Marnier souffle for dessert that was just out of the oven. OMG, I'd never had a souffle, either, and it was unbelieveable. What a treat. One that I will be paying for for a few days to come...lol

All in all, the best I could tell, my numbers came out to be:

cals: 1597  fat: 33  carbs: 208  fiber: 19  pro: 127

This includes my snacks of greek yogurt and cottage cheese w/ nsa cherries as well as my protein coffee and LOTS of water.

Aloha sweet pea..........I always read your nautical post....... I don't put mine down because it really is pretty bad these days and I would inspire no one....Ha!

Your description of the salad with spinach and dried blueberries sounded delightful. I have both in my house and want to try to make it today. Do you have any idea what the dressing might have been? Did it have nuts in it? Blueberries are one of the three VERY BEST things we can eat so I usually have them either fresh, frozen, or dried. I can't remember the other two best foods.....check out Dr. Oz's web site.

I do try to have protein shakes often as well as ham/cheese roll ups nuked for a few seconds. But, I also allow in my diet (bad Karen!**** cream and bread, and dark chocolate. My philosophy is that I'll cut back on those treats when I gain weight......so far everything seems to rocket through my body.....

Susan, you look so beautiful, and I can't imagine that you are fighting weight gain. But, you sure are inspiring a lot of people, and that includes me because YOU come into my my mind when I'm about to sink my teeth into a peanut butter cookie.....and I hesitate......then munch!

Sending you a big aloha hug and a smooch to let you know you are a gift in my life. Thanks for all you do on here.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Karen, you're so sweet, your words really touched my heart today. I'm so glad you're here, too!

The salad was served with a piece of toast with some melted Brie on it, but I didn't much care for it, so I left it alone. I'm guessing the dressing was some sort of vinaigrette, although Gary says it was Caesar (I think he's wrong, but whatever). No nuts, but some pecans would have been good. I think I'll get some blueberries this week as I have some blue cheese in the fridge that sounds like it would go together well.

Funny, I hesitate with those cookies too, right before popping one in my mouth!

Love you bunches and tons. Happy Mom's Day to you!

Susan
