From the Eating Coach: Okay all of us can identify with this one!! We are a success and we won't give up on ourselves!!! I connected how about you? Hugs- Debbie

Ever start off losing weight and feeling really successful only to "fall off the wagon" and give up before you climb back on???

Most dieters (studies say) see this as "bad eating" when really it is just eating.  I don't mean this in the "You're Great -- We're all Great -- You get a ribbon just for Participating" kind of way.  It is really true.

If you divide eating into three categories (ala Michelle May), you get restrictive eaters (dieters), over eaters, and intuitive eaters.  All of us are all three.  Even the most intuitive eater (that effortlessly thin spouse or friend) over eats sometimes.  If they seem effortlessly thin, it's because they spend more time eating according to their hunger and fullness than eating in the other two styles.

Just like the most over- or restrictive eater will sometime eat according to hunger and fullness signals -- they just spend more time over- or restrictively eating.

Here's my point:

A "bad" eating day is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.  You will have more opportunities to make the kinds of choices you feel good about the next time you are thinking about eating.

Don't let a lapse (a short-term disruption in your mindfulness) turn into a relapse (a return to all of your former eating behaviors -- you know...the ones that got you to where you were before you starting being mindful in the first place)

this entire losing/maintaining weight process is so true to that! so many of us have had "bad" days and often have to just remember to "get back on that horse" as "tomorrow is a new day"!!!!!

i know as a lightweight; it was so hard for me early out when i wouldn't see mega losses.....even now i have to be mindful!

debbie- i love these posts! don't always speak to them but appreciate you posting!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thanks Margo.
Sometimes we connect with postings and sometimes not...then again we get really busy with our lives don't we? LOL

Mindful eating is good for me. It helps me and do you know I haven't had one M&M since I read that you would have to walk an entire football field???

We do have to jump right back on the horse as soon as we fall off...because tomorrow never comes!! I try not to think there is no "bad food" if we want something, just eat less of it...and we have a tool to help us. That includes our brain too. It's a tool, the right frame of mind.

Really keeping the weight off isn't about "Will power" because that comes and goes doesn't it? It honestly is about lifestyle change and mindful eating. If we have good health we exercise. For those that don't have their health back yet or are ill or have arthritis or some other ailment, they have a rougher time of it. They have to work even harder and really think "is that worth it to pass my lips for"??? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But in the long run I never think we should beat ourselves up over food. We do need food to survive but again...I don't need to eat an apple as big as my head! LOL (or a Cinnamon roll...which is what I really want sometimes but don't...if I do it will be me craving carbs all day long...Sigh)
