"What are you practicing?"

From Kristi the Eating Coach...I promise to continue to practice mindful eating! Hugs- Debbie

You are always practicing something. The question is, "What are you practicing?" --Martical Arts Sensei

I came across this quote somewhere in my web-travels and it has been kickin' around my head for the last couple days.

So what's your answer? Are you practicing mindfulness in your eating? OR are you reading about mindful eating and practicing the eating behaviors that got you to this weight?

You can read all you want (and I do love it that you're reading -- Really!!) but a change in your weight will only come from a change in your behavior. A lasting change in your weight will only come from a lasting change in your behavior.

I know it's not easy! (did I mention I went golfing last night -- on a league, no less), and (shock of the world!) my swing did not feel any more natural (after not picking up clubs since January) than it did the day I took my first lesson. You know why?? I bet you can guess -- because I was practicing non-golf. Non-golf feels natural but golf does not. Hhmmm....go figure.

If mindful eating doesn't feel natural yet -- keep practicing mindful eating. If you give up your ME practice, you will be practicing non-mindful eating. Those are your options.

Well...looks like I am off to the golf course to practice. How 'bout you?

Piano.  From my bucket list.  Went to adult school after work four years ago (age 57 then) and took chord piano.   Have to sit down more and just practice.  Very elevating and wonderful.

Great!! We have a player her folks in more ways than one!!
Keep practicing Katherine!! Now that is cool playing the piano.

For me I just joined the church choir. New church, new friends. All ready got asked to sing "special music".
The youngest soprano was "put out" I read her body language and she was just not welcoming. Apparently the lead soprano missed practice and she also does special music so I think I will go sing with the altos for this choir. I have a good voice range.
Sigh...you know there is one in every group. That's why I waited to join to choir to "feel the diversity and dynamics" of the group.
I'm not a diva at all and actually prefer to sing in groups.

Good for you!  I was in choir in sixth grade - they took anyone!  The good news and reason I
joined was we didn't have to go to the children's mass at nine and kneel on the hard wooden
kneelers!  We got to go to the eleven o'clock mass and sit on nice chairs in the choir loft and giggle!

When I do something new, outside of work, I like it to be right-side of the brain oriented.  Like watercoloring,  piano, sketching.

Now that it's so beautiful outside, I enjoy primping up the house and grounds - painting, scraping, etc.  Flowers wait til mid May - I'm a Jersey girl.

Very fulfilling.

Awesome.  I wish I could sing so I could join a choir.....I'd hitting way too many sour notes.  But I could play my guitar if they had a band.

Things are going well here.  It's a dreary, rainy day in Minnesota, but that's OK.  It'll get greener and greener now!

My work group is busy planning a goodbye party for me, and it's exciting.  I am cleaning up my office and figuring out what to bring to the new place.

This weekend we are doing our usual support group coffee tomorrow and then grilling out for dinner at Michael's sister's - she & her husband and daughter are hosting.  Her twin sister and my other brother in law are coming up from Iowa with their two youngest (high schoolers) and we haven't seem them in ages, so it will be a fun day.

Hope everyone is doing well and ready for a nice weekend.
