Hi Gang, I'm a walker how about you? It doesn't cost anything...just walk!!!
Here's some facts....

1. Longer, moderately-paced daily walks (40 minutes at 60% to 65% max. heart rate) are best for losing weight.

2. Shorter, faster walks (20-25 minutes at 75%-85% maximum heart rate) are best for conditioning your heart and lungs.

3. Walking an hour a day is also associated with cutting your risk of heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes and stroke.

4. Walking an extra 20 minutes each day will burn off 7 pounds of body fat per year.

5. To burn off 1 M&M candy, you need to walk the full length of a football field. Think about that next time you dip your hand into a candy bowl at someones office! (I sure will!!) LOL

6. 30 minutes walking at a moderate pace will burn 112 calories.

How to start walking:
check with your doctor first
Invest in good pair of shoes and wear bright comfortable clothing
Stretch before and after walking
Use good posture (stand up straight looking straight forward)
Start walking, landing on  your heal and rolling to your toe!

Top Ten Reasons to Start Walking:
1. Walkers live longer
2. Walking helps prevent weight gain
3. You can walk off weight
4. Walking reduces risk of cancer
5. Walking reduces risk of heart disease and stroke
6. Walking reduces Diabetes risk.
7. Walking boost your brain power
8. Walking improves mood and relieves stress
9. Walking can prevent erectile dysfunction (I did not know that!...good one for our men)
10. It's easy to get started walking!

Debbie... I've been walking more, as my back allows. Lately it has been pretty good, after my last injection. I still can't go far but I'm trying. Yesterday I combined exercise and maintenance by mowing lawn. I had to do it in 10 minute segments but I sure raised my heart rate. I did about 1/2 of it and will finish today. My hubbie offered to finish but I told him I wanted to do it. Then a short walk later.

Yeah...talk about "Mindful Eating" that would be one of them...for sure!!

Another way to look at how we eat....just a given....
Every mouthful of food we put in us is an average of 35-50 calories.
Take 3 less bites a meal and you saved apx. 150 calories!
