End of the Road: I'm home
Hello my OFF family:
I'm finally back in Michigan after more than two weeks away. I got home about 3 p.m. after leaving my mom's home this morning ... light traffic, no backups, no problems. I decided not to make any stops other than those that were necessary (bathroom breaks, coffee stops) and came right home. I was so tired and missed my home and my kitties. Since I got home, I have been so busy listening to voicemails, returning calls, looking through mail, visiting with my catsitter, talking to a couple looking at the condo ... man, it's been hectic here! And then, I couldn't get online because somehow my wireless device got disabled. I spent awhile on the phone with AT&T tech support trying to figure it out ... finally, the guy hit on the right solution and we made it work. Which was good, because I needed to apply for my unemployment for the past two weeks. So I got that done and will get paid Thursday (still could have done it on my old computer or over the phone, but I'm glad I got reconnected at last on my laptop).
The vacation was great, but I'm glad I'm home. And here's the other good news ... after some vacillating, my mom has decided to allow my brother Gary to live with her after all. This morning, she was all worried about what she would do with all her stuff (which is all junk, by the way, and she could throw it out) and was all flustered by the fact she'd have to do this in two months or less. So when Gary got home, he asked her if she wanted him there. She said yes, and then he said he could live in the basement (which is finished, but unheated) if it wasn't done in two months. She liked that solution, so that was taken care of and now he has a place to live (his apartment house was sold, and the new owner's a jerk, and Gary doesn't want to sign a year lease with him). And Mom will have someone with her most of the time, which will make us all feel a lot better.
More later. I'm happy to be in my own house. Got lots to do yet, and I need to get out and get cat food tomorrow and run to the bank, but just wanted to say hi.
