Hello Everyone:

I'm up early.  Just made some taco meat for salads.  Love the smell in the house from cooking the meat with the seasonings.

Hope that you all have a great weekend.  What are your plans?

Good morning Cindy and my OFF friends,

Another storm came through at about 5:00 that got me out of bed. Gary's gone and they've had severe storm warnings most of yesterday, last night and this morning. Thankfully they seemed to go all around us and we didn't get much more than some heavy rain.

When the weather folks were predicting these storms I knew Gary would be out of town and it made me pretty nervous. Wanting some reassurance from my dear husband, who is obviously from another planet, I mentioned how these storms were supposed to be pretty rough while he was gone. We talked about him leaving early to get ahead of the storms, and how the weather might affect his job photographing the marathon in Nashville. While he watched the NFL draft on the tv in my office, I cleaned out the closet where we hide out during tornado warnings.

Over breakfast yesterday morning, with the weather reports cautioning about the chances of tornadoes, I again said I was nervous about him being gone during the evening when it was supposed to be the worst.

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine", he said.  Looking across the table, peering over my glasses, I quietly said " I'm worried about myself".

Before he left there were flashlights in all of the rooms of the house, including next to my side of the bed and the chair in the living room. I think he got the message. What a dork!

Good day to all. I'm off to work and then a surprise housewarming party for a friend's daughter.

Men are definitely from another planet.

Sometimes you have to hit them with a brick to get through to them.

Hmmmm..Maybe that's why I've been married (and divorced) twice.

Ya think?????

i thought i had learned after my second- i swear to myself and my God this (third) one is my last!!!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Susan,
I could have written the same scenario about my S/O.  I gave up being subtle with him.....he doesn't get it or he pretends not too most of the time.  They (men) really need things spelled out for them I'm learning.....lol

Hope the weather calms down quickly.  Do you have a good book or some movies you can watch to take your mind of it?

Take care!

Good morning, ya'll.

We are supposed to get some rain and possible T-storms today.  I love T-storms!  When we would travel in our fifth wheel, we loved hearing the heavy rain hit the roof just inches from our head.  I know, call us crazy!

Yesterday we went and got the landscaping stones and mulch I needed to finish my small area in the backyard. I unloaded it all myself and even finished the area!!  I also got 6 plants and put them in the front yard area.  (Can we say percocet?)  My DIL will be down this morning to see if I did it right.  I am TERRIBLE with plants.  If I plant them they usually die.  My DH is in charge of caring for the 4 plants we have in the house.  She waters and weeds the beautiful area that she and my son planted for me last Mother's Day.  The only plant I ever had that I didn't kill is a beautiful rose bush.  It was given to me by a dear friend of my daughter's for Mother's Day many years ago.  When we moved to NC, I dug it up, put the root ball with dirt in a plastic bag and put it all in a shipping box.  The movers moved it here.  It is still blooming.

I really envy all those who love to do yard work and have pristine lawns.  Like my DIL.  I just can't stay motivated to keep it all up.  Unfortunately my daughter got that trait from me.

Have a fantabulous day.

I LIVE for my gardens!  There's just nothing like being up to my ankles in dirt,  sweat running off me, sunburn on my back..... I guess.  And the feeling of accomplishment when all the weeding is done!  (At least for that minute....  They always grow back....)

Hang on to the DIL.  There aren't too many like her.

I have one, too.
I raised my son right.  He chose well.

I've been staining French doors and wood trim since yesterday.  The house stinks, but everything looks really nice.  This will be my last hurrah inside, as I'll hopefully be able to get outside some and start enjoying my yard soon.  I mowed last week, and it needs it again, but it's still pretty cool most days.  Too cool for me to actually get down and dirty.

This afternoon I've been talked into going out to play Euchre for the afternoon, then maybe dinner out.  Depends how I feel about the company.  I wasn't going to go, because I wanted to finish the doors, but they're not going anywhere.

I need to practice not having a set schedule.  For someone like me, it won't be easy.  My life has always revolved around a VERY set schedule.

I have a line on a year round weekly Euchre tournament, a Scrabble group, and some friends who are willing to TRY to teach me MahJong.  I figure if nothing else, I'll meet some new people other than co-workers, and that will open up more possibilities.

My retired friends tell me I'll be so busy I won't know how I ever worked.
I'm looking forward to that....

Everyone have a great weekend.
