Last night was the first bariatric swim class. Marcy & I met early to discuss our nervousness of being in public wearing bathing suits. All for nothing - we were soon in the water and having a great time. The hour flew with lots of laughs.

I am so uncoordinated. As we used two paddles for arm exercises, I couldn't stay in one spot. Just floated away. We were supposed to balance on our knees on a noodle. I kept falling off.  Marcy had to same problem of getting bounced off too. Absolutely hilarious.

The instructor suggested that we move to a more shallow spot.for stability. I said she needed to be in the shallowest spot since I am taller. Marcy reminded me that we are both 5'2" - maybe - but I'm a taller 5'2".  (sorry my dear, you are the tiny one)

On the way out, the director came and introduced himself. He asked when we had our surgery and how much lost. When he heard of our progress (407 lbs between the 2 of us) he smiled and shook our hands again.

I can't wait for the next class.

Kisses

I love how free I feel in the water. However, the saggy, baggy floating "loose" parts aren't so wonderful. When our new gym is completed in June they are going to have water aerobics. I hope to participate.

When we did the scissors exercise my leg skin rippled and it tickled. Same for arms.

My teeny tiny "floatation devices" started to float out of the suit so I had to tighten the straps. Need some duct tape there.

LOL! George close your eyes girl talk here. Do I ever know what you mean. Our hot tub is in a very private area off of our bedroom. When it's late at night and my legs are restless I head out there in my birthday suit. OMG! Everything floats! Not a pretty sight but then I'm the only one who sees it.

What a hoot!  I'm so glad that you enjoyed yourself.  You've given me the courage (almost!!) to check out the local exercising in the pool.

Go for a visit. Absolutey NOBODY had a perfect body or looked at other people. Exercising in the water makes it feel effortless. Take a friend and have fun.

I'm in awe of you.    I still don't think I'd be comfortable in a public pool......I love water aerobics....maybe this coming fall/winter I'll go to the local "Y" and join a class.
I'm hoping I'll be healed enough to use my own pool this summer (was never able to get into it last year due to surgeries).  Heck, I can't wait to be able to take a nice relaxing bath.........I've not been allowed to soak in a tub since last Sept!!!!!

Enjoy your class....sounds like fun!

Do you have to be extra cautious in the sun too?

Don't be shy about going in public. Honestly, most people don't notice.
