Here's today's tip/recipe. If you use Greek yogurt you'll increase the protein by a bit. Very yummy to dip veggies in, or use in place of mayonnaise.
Ever hear of Tzatziki? Serve this with warm pita triangles or as a dressing for pita sandwiches. Tzatziki is good for you and you won't even miss the mayo.
1 cup low fat plain yogurt
1/4 cup chopped green onions
3 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
1 garlic clove, peeled and minced
1 cup peeled, seeded and chopped cucumber
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Combine all in a small bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.
For each 3 tablespoon serving: 15 calories, 0.2g fat, 1.5g protein, 2.4g carbohydrate, 0.2g fiber, 0.6mg cholesterol, 90.1mg sodium
Yesterday was a decent food day. I was busy at work, but managed to get some snacks in, which is unusual.

greek yogurt w/ special k low fat granola
almonds
4 oz sirloin steak, 1/2 baked potato, broccoli. Oh, and 2 onion rings

Ever heard of Tzatziki you ask?????? SURE.........LOVE IT! Being married to a Turkish man for many years I know the stuff well (call it something different but it's all the same).
I make my own yogurt.
We eat a gallon of it each week....We use yogurt instead of sour cream, mayo, even butter for somethings.........we put it on pasta, I've baked with it, mixed a small amount into tuna, love it on top of grilled zucchini, and a favorite is to drink it ice cold (mix 1/2 cup yogurt in about 10 or 12 oz cold water sprinkle on a little salt and drink).
Food today:
B- 1 egg, chop veg, feta cheese, whole wheat toast, honey
S- 1/2 apple
L- My flatbread pizza, salad, Yogurt drink (plain yogurt, cold water, salt...YUMMY, especially with pizza or spicy food), tangerine or grapes
S- coffee, PB on a lite Wasa cracker, 10 gr 85% dk choc,
S- protein w/fiber
D- Fish, green bean salad, pickled beets, bulgur wheat, melon
