Long day at Gettysburg

It's now 9:45 p.m. and we are just settling down in our "suite" at the timeshare after a long day in Gettysburg. Pat, we did the driving tour on our own and didn't fini****; we made it through the 12th stop and then got lost. At that point it was nearly 6 p.m. and looking like it was going to rain again. We got lost a few times and we ended up back at the visitors center, so we went in to check out the bookstore and then went to look for food. We hadn't eaten anything but snacks in the car (protein bars) all day. I was getting a headache; the storms were kind of causing it.

Gettysburg was fascinating but we didn't see nearly as much as we wanted. We both said we could spend more time in the area.

It started raining late in the afternoon while we were on the auto tour; cleared up for awhile, then rained again when we were driving back to Hershey.

Tomorrow, we're going to tour the Hershey plant and then drive to Williamsburg. We'll be there for a week.

Knee started hurting in the museum, I took a pill and it was pretty good considering all the climbing I did at the various sites. Only my neck hurts.

Glad to here the pain isn't too bad. Do they still have the theater type thing, in the round at Gettysburg? When we were there 7 years ago we went in, it was the single most amazing, moving thing I've ever seen. Then to go outdoors and be able too look in any direction and see some of the spots that had been talked about, WOW! At that time we ate at the historic KFC.
Williamsburg is super, too, but we went there on blistering hot day. When we were watching the fife and drum corp do drills I over heard a woman ask if they ever had civil war re-enactments there.  Our sil and I had great fun with comments like "look, there's a plane! I wonder if that is from ye olde colonial airforce?"

Enjoy the rest of your trip, I'd love to go back.

Eileen,

I've never been to Gettysburg but love the aromas in Hershey.

Enjoy your trip. I know walking hurts you but you sure saw a lot anyway.
