I cant believe that it is is already the middle of April...all the spring flowers and trees are all in bloom here at the same time...sort of weird ...
I cant sleep I used the push mower for 5 hours straight yesterday and i was so tired that i fell asleep after supper and slept till American Idol came on and then went straight to bed after it was over. Now i am awake...The yard looks lovely tho. lol Joe did all the weed eating , i cant handle that big ole thing.
Been working in the yard most all day every day. I love doing it for sure but sometimes i think it is way too much.

My spring veggie garden is doing great. I have lettuce and onions  just about ready to eat.and the carrots and beets and peas are all doing great.
is about time to start planting other things ...will wait till the first of May because it isnt unheard of to have a last big frost the first week in May. and that is a pain to get the tomatoes out in their spots and then get them frozen ....
today i will be repoting my tomatoe plants into larger containers so they will grow bigger and be ready to put out. also need to start some other plants....have more than enough to do. anyone want to help??

Good morning Jan and ohf, well I hate to hear you feeling getting so tired from mowing, Jan. I have to do ours today, and am waaaay out of shape. I bet I could count mowing and bending over to pick all the junk as my exercise for the day.   Maybe. This is supposed to be our last day of great weather until Mon. so I will work outside today and inside tomorrow.
Have been getting my flowers transplanted, the impatiens are slower to germinate this year and I started marigolds and salvia yesterday. I'm sure they will all need transplanting at once.
I started perennials
in mid Feb. and most are doing great. I've kicked many of them outside to harden down. I will begin planting them soon since the ones I have already had are up. A few will still need to be babied.
I keep thinking of all the things I need to get done before May 4 (surg) and it is a little intimidating. I am figuring a week off from anything too active, and in the spring that can put you behind. I plant dahalias on May 12, so it will be tight. Oh well, no matter what the surgery comes first. Without it I will only be able to garden about 1 more year and that would break my heart.

All of you enjoy your day and sip, sip, sip.

Good morning Jan and OFF family...Happy Tax Day...Yuck...

Okay I will be singing the National Anthem at the Tea Party (Taxed Enough All Ready!) at the Park in Allegan at 6pm. I hate singing alone and will invite all to sing...and they should! Sing it with pride!!

The sun is shining and it's suppose to get 80 here! Weehhoooooo! Now that puts a smile on my face.

Went to see Garrison Keillor at Miller last night...one man show and it was boring and I must say this...I love him but not alone, he needs someone to play off of...participation!!
Just like all of us, we need each other, the support, the comedy and reflections of each other.
We are a team...with a goal for all of us!

Our goal? To live a happy, healthy lifestyle.
So last night I felt sorry for Garrison. He rambled, making up stories for 2 hours. Everyone was complaining as they left the auditorium. Thank God, I didn't pay full price for this show. Our tickets were 49.00 each, I got both for 25.00.
So I just embraced the "date night" with hubby and enjoyed being together.

May you all have a great day. Say a prayer for me that others will sing with me tonight, our National Anthem. Hugs- Debbie

I wish I could help.  I'm ready to get down and into the dirt.  Although April has been a beautiful month here this year, I know better than to do much outside other than clean up.  (Which I still haven't started....)  I got seeds but haven't started them.  I'm finding myself in the grip of inertia, waiting for the magic day when I can say "I'm retired!".  Then I'll get moving.

Or maybe I'll just sit on the deck and watch the grass grow.

Some times it's hard to predict.

I'd love to see some pictures of your gardens.  Guess I'll go and check your profile.

Happy planting!

Candy

Busy week around here. My little part time job is keeping me a bit too busy. This week so far I've worked a day each at the Juvenile Detention Center (If they misbehave they get sent back to their "cages"), the preschool for autistic students (very few words spoken but sweet, sweet children) and yesterday the early childhood program for hispanic speakers. They were so sweet they helped me out a lot with my limited Spanish. Who oh why did I study French for 8 years when Spanish would have been so useful? The area I live in now has a large Hispanic population; it didn't when I was in school. Had I realized that would be the case I probably would have chosen to study Spanish.

Haven't been called yet this morning but I'm sure I will be. Tomorrow I'll just work in the morning as I have a birthday luncheon to go to for a neighbor's 70th birthday. Next week I plan to schedule Tuesday off. I don't mind working quite a bit right now as I'll be taking 10 days off in early May to spend time helping Erin out while Mike goes to Alaska with a newly retired friend.

Our weather was nice yesterday finally could feel the warmth of the sun. It's supposed to reach 70 or higher this weekend. Hope I don't get disappointed. I'm holding off on planting my annuals and a few more perennials. Mike hasn't planted onions and tomatos yet either. Maybe this weekend? We've been having fresh local asparagus a couple of times a week. Mike usually gets a gout attack about this time. Gotta get in gear. You all have a nice day.

Putting ribs  marinated in the fridge for Mike to put in the oven early afternoon to slowly back in "Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce" Asparagus and a SMALL baked potato. Trying out the new low fat sourcream that I bought last week.

I made clam chowder last week with fat free half and half. I don't understand it as the fat is what half and half is supposed to be about isn't it? But this stuff was GOOD!

I really do have to go. I'm gone! Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Everyone!

Last night I bought a pedometer.  I had a cheap one last year and it broke.  I found out I have to walk a little further. Trying to build up my stamina.

I didn't go to court yesterday with my sister.  I found out that the person who should have gone, didn't.  She claims,  my x- brother in -law broke into her garage and stole things that were her husbands the one who was killed.  That is why she didn't go.  My x- brother in-law is a real ass.

I guess my sister heard that he may get 1- 3 years but the attorney has to come up with a plea bargain by 4/20.  I hope they can work something out and it isn't too long of a sentence.

As for me, I need to work in the yard.  I probably will start today.  Weather here is suppose to be nice.  Starting tomorrow and through the weekend, rain.  Bummer.

I stepped on the scale and lost two pounds! Yea slow but at least I am losing and not gaining.

Well everyone seems to be busy getting their gardens ready.  My husband was going to help me this weekend.  But...... rain.

Isn't nice to be outside again?

peace
Mary

I am on my way.  What a ride it has been.
