Just found out yesterday that I have two small ones. ****! I'm barely fifty and I have to deal with THIS?

My DH just had cataracts removed from both eyes.  His eyesight was crap!  I went in with him to his consultation and the ONLY letter he could read with the left eye was the huge E!  The right eye was better - he could read the second line.

The surgery was a piece of cake.  Lots of eye drops later, he finally is seeing better.  They did one eye, then the other eye about 3 weeks later.

It's hell getting old isn't it!?

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I had my first one at 49, my second one at 51 and my THIRD one at 52.  Yes, I had a secondary one appear in my left eye.  So I've had 3 cataract surgeries.  Piece of cake and for the first time since 5th grade, I no longer had to wear glasses afterward except to read.

If they are small, they could take up to 10 years to "bloom" and so you might not need surgery for a long time.  Mine unfortunately bloomed within about 3-6 months of discovery.

I was told 2  years ago at 59 that I had the beginnings of cataracts. Well, I think they have advanced a lot in 2 yrs. Just made an eye appt for June to get them checked out. Seems like things are blurry, not bright enough, print is way too small. . . . . From what I hear from others it's not a difficult surgery. So I guess it's just one of those "life things" that we have to deal with. Thank goodness there is something that can be done!

in addition to my macular degeneration now being in both eyes- i was told that i have cataracts beginning---and eyes are getting worse....really wish i had some type of health insurance.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
