Hi All,
Nice travelling Nancy.  We are taking a week in April to go to Newport, RI.  It's a training conference for hubby, but I get to play during the day.  Then after that ends on Weds. we'll go see our grandkids in upstate NY.

My Mom (82) went into the hospital last night.  She was having difficulty breathing and has congestive heart and lungs.  She is on diuretics and the docs are trying to get that fluid out of there.  She is comfortable now but I'm leaving work early to spend some time with her.  She has afib too so that is another concern.

I've been away from the boards for a week.  Just too tired.  I haven't even been lurking.
Prayers and hugs to all who need them.
Bev

Good afternoon, ya'll.

Boy am I late today.  Too much going on, too many interruptions!

I am praying for all of you with family members having health problems.  I am praying for all you having health problems, as well. Also everyone struggling with a job, or lack thereof.  It is a very scarey time in our country.

In May my DH and I are going to NE for his 50th class reunion.  He doesn't drive, so it's all me (has been for many years, so I'm good with it).  Our DIL gave us a Tom Tom GPS.  But I also ordered a Trip Tik from AAA.  My DH says it's like wearing a belt and suspenders both.  BUT...if I get lost I want to be able to look at a map and find out how to get back on track.  Not just trust in some disembodied voice!

Another beautiful day here.  I washed the car last weekend.  Today I vacuumed it out.  I get worn out fast, so I only do a little at a time.  My DH and I have been discussing getting a yard maint. company to help this summer.  We have a riding mower, but the fertilizing, clearing downed branches and pine cones, edging and weed eating and stuff we have mainly depended on grandsons.  This year they are both working.  Our son is deployed so it's all me and my DH.  I am using some of the extra money we have now that everything is paid off and I have a housekeeper every 2 weeks.  I think we can spring for lawn maint. Plus we can't put yard waste in our trash anymore.  I'm sure they will cost more than we paid the grandsons, but oh well.

Speaking of houses.  Our County reappraised all the houses again this year. Our values have all gone UP!!!  My house is now worth $100K more than we paid for it 5 tears ago (we got it at auction).  I think we are the only place in the country where this is happening.  Everywhere else values are going DOWN!!  Or maybe they are reappraising everyone high so they can get more in taxes.

My WBC count was up yesterday and I was able to get my chemo.  Then I came home and gave myself a neupogen shot as instructed. So now I really do have just one left.  OOOO RAAA!

Everyone have a fantabulous day.

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:

Been busy this morning so no time to check in earlier. I met a former coworker for coffee this morning, another of the laidoff bunch. He lives in Jenison, near me. We had a nice time. He had put me onto one job in Marion, Ind., and I got a call from the guy, who is a former colleague of his. Well, the guy called me yesterday and while it's nice to be wanted anything, I don't think this is the job for me. For one, the money is way less than I was making (like $20,000 less) ... plus, it's more of a supervisory position, and I am not a leader type. I'm more of a follower. Give me my work and leave me alone. I know my weaknesses and strengths, and leadership is not a strength. So I think I'm going to turn this down. But it's good to know that someone is actually interested in me. There are actually newspapers out there hiring ... that's amazing.

My brother Gary got a part-time job back at the theater where he used to work. So ... free movies again, plus some extra money coming in. He's still getting paid, plus his severance starts in April and runs through July.

I worked for awhile yesterday on the auto racing book ... ya know, I haven't written anything for 12 years, since I was a sports writer ... it took me an hour and a half to write this article. Don't think I've ever spent that much time on an article. But I thought it was well done. Still getting to know my Word program on this laptop.

Nancy, glad your vacation was fun ... glad you could find a store to get a nice bargain on clothes. I can't wait to go on vacation in April. It'll be nice to get out of the house and see something other than the golf course.

Well, someone is coming over to look at something I'm trying to sell (unfortunately, it's not the condo). Have a good day.

Nancy - you make life sound pretty fun!   That is so great you lost on the trip, and are having such fun, too.  Nice job finding the deals at Catherine's.

As for me, working hard, wondering what is next for me.  I see a better job in my future - now that the weight is going down, down, down I can see more options for me.  Meanwhile, there is lots to appreciate about this job besides.  Good benefits, decent pay, flexibility and wonderful work group - so it's not exactly painful.  Just some things that bother me and always will (inequity, lack of appreciation, etc.).

Michael is doing great!  Several weeks out of surgery and he's losing like crazy - men's metabolism!  He feels better, too and is encouraged.

Spring is coming to Minnesota!  I saw a bloom in my garden yesterday - a golden crocus - so pretty.   Have a great day.

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...
