Morning Everyone,
It is beautiful here in Kansas, supposed to get to 68 and then really cold this weekend with a chance of snow. I love the sunshine! My son-in-law leaves for I raq again today. This is his 6th time to Iraq and Afganistan. My daughter is getting use to it now. My husband deployed off and on for 25 years. It's still hard raising a family while they are gone.
Sybul, Happy Belated Birthday! I will turn 57 in August. I've only lost 50 lbs since surgery but am hoping to loose more before the day gets here.

Mary- We had surgery about the same time. Mine was 7/10/09

Eileen- Congrats! I had to quit work because of my back. It was so sudden ,I know what doing without feels like. I got my social security disability but it took awhile. Actually, all of a sudden money was in my account and I didnt even know I had been accepted. Got the leeter of acceptance 3 days later. Kinda wierd, but nice

Judy G- You started my day foo great imagining thru your eyes what it would be like on horseback by the lake. Thanks!

I didn't quit, I got laid off six weeks ago. I applied for disability ... bad knee, bad back. I had a knee replacement and a revision but I'm still in so much pain ... ortho doc says the fibromyalgia might be keeping me from recovering from the surgery completely. I can tell we're getting a storm because today it hurts like hell.

My friend Mary Kay who got disability a couple of years ago said the same thing ... one day she checked her account and there was this big amount in there ... retroactive payments from the time she applied. So until I get that, I will live on unemployment and keep applying for jobs, but really, in my field (newspapers/publications) there isn't a lot out there for 55-year-olds. Not whining, just being realistic.

I'm 56 , so i really feel for you. I didn't get any retro payments. I just got the payment. If they pay you by the 6th month you dont get retro. They said at disability that if you have done the same job most of your life and you are in your 50's , its harder to retrain us for something else. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. (ha)

We're in Illinois getting ready to celebrate Mom's 80th bd.  I'll play catch up Sunday afternoon when we get home.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

 Hi everyone,

It was fun to hear of your days.  Clarksville is in Tennesse, and that is where my mom lives.  It is neat to hear from so many people, from around the country.
