Sunday, Sunday, What's New with You??

Thanks for asking!  Michael is doing just great.  He has been eating the pureed foods, and taking it easy.  Today he is resting more, because he went shopping with me and out to lunch!   It's so fun to split a meal and bring enough home for more meals!

Have a great day, Karen!

To experience the wonders of this  surgery together will really be something! You loved each other first for what was on the inside. The new outsides will just be a bonus!!

Absolutely!  He is already weighing  a bit less than he has since I've known him,  because the doctor wanted him to lose 20 pounds, and with delays, etc. he lost 40 before surgery!  He's lost over 10 since.   I'm excited for him.  I also weigh less than he's ever seen me!  Quite the wonder, is right!
And we do love each other so much, now we can be more active together and do the things we couldn't before.  That will be a huge bonus!

You mentioned that Michael was on dialysis. Is there hope that that will some day not be necessary? don't know if kidney function can improve over time or not. Just a curious person. Please forgive if this is too intrusive.

Tell Michael I wish him the best. At 377 lbs I could do so little that I wanted to. I watched life mainly from the sidelines. It had been many years, so doing all of the active things again, was truly like being born again.

Well... we seem to be having a conversation on Sunday's updates!  LOL

Actually, Karen, the only thing that will allow him to stop dialysis that I know of, is to have a kidney transplant.  The surgery will allow him to have the health needed to do that, and he is going to get on the list.

I started out my WLS journey at 399!  I'm already thrilled to be 315.  I can't WAIT to see what life is like in the 200s!  It's been years for me since I was down there.  Michael started at 340 or something like that and he is in the low 280s now.  I know he already feels better.   I'm excited!

Hi Candy and my OFF family:

I forgot about the time change too ... but Nettie did not ... she was meowing at me, jumping on my chest (a 12-pound cat jumping on the chest doesn't feel too good) and purring in my ear. I yelled at her a couple of times because I looked at my clock/radio time and saw 7 a.m. (I thought it would automatically reset ... it's a newer clock). Then I flipped over and saw the clock on the digital cable box and it said 8:40 a.m. ... oh, no wonder Nettie was anxious, she was hungry. I was sleeping later than I have been lately (or to her timing, at least). So I have to go around and change clocks. The only thing I can't change is my watch; I used to have my coworker Jeff at work do it, but can't do that anymore. I have such a problem with it. It just doesn't change easily. I can change everything but the time. Drives me crazy.

Mom has already called; she called early because my brother Ed is coming over to retrieve their cat. He and his wife were on vacation and Mom was taking care of the cat. Mom doesn't like cats, but Nic sure likes her. He always sat with her and slept with her. I think it's pretty funny. Nic is old and pretty scrawny and doesn't really do much other than sleep and chew on plastic (that's his only vice).

Candy, you have to do what is best for you on the retirement issue. I sure didn't want to quit working; I'm still looking for work but feel I probably won't get a full-time job anywhere, especially in my field. If you feel you can handle it, I say go for it.

It's rainy and gloomy and windy again here. This weather is not conducive to my health; I feel like crap again. All I want to do is sleep all day. I'm not getting much done. Did nothing yesterday (well, I did dump out one litter box). Hope I can get a little something done today beyond the laundry.

Hope you're having a better day.

Good morning Candy and everyone on OFF!

Er...I mean, good afternoon, ROFL!  I see it's already past 1:30.  I was up at 8:30, totally grateful for so many uninterrupted hours of sleep.  I'd chased all the cats out the night before and so there was no tummy kneading in the wee hours.  :D

The weather was so bad the little guy didn't come over.  The rain came down in sheets and buckets and tree limbs (and the trees as well) came down right and left.  This morning my DH brought his chain saw along when we went to Walmart and cut himself some huge pieces NOT for firewood but to do totem pole carvings and stuff.  He's really creative.

Not much else doing today.  Hope you all have a nice relaxing day!

Cassie, I'll probably be in the headline "Old lady arrested for dumpster diving!" some day. Just hate to see anything with some life left in it go to waste. Love to "repurpose" things. My mother lives on in me. She remade old towels into wash cloths, old net into scrubbies, old jeans and any kind of fabric into quilts. I have a doll bed she made me when I was 5 made out of scraps of wood. Then she made the mattress, quilt, and bedspread too. I save old jars for jelly, old mayo jars to pass on a serving of soup to friends, glean "free" grapes for jelly and anything else that is going to waste. Can't say I'm all that creative but it's fun.
