Went to the ER
After 2 hours of drinking about 32 oz, I was still shaky while sitting down. So I called my PCP's office. They told me to go to the ER for IVs. So off we went. It really didn't take that long. They said I was moderately dehydrated and gave me only 500ccs. We were only there for about an hour and I was feeling MUCH better before the IV finished. Whew! So, I' m drinking heaviliy today (right, Mary?) and will continue to do so. I guess my transfer addiction will be H20. LOL
I was feeling so much better that this afternoon, I told my DH that I wanted to go to Walmart. I have a list of things to purchase, including a new bathroom scale. Every time I get on it, I get back off and back on to see if it says the same thing, It never does, and can vary up to 3 pounds!
I got really tired at Walmart and didn't really spend any time just looking - I got what I needed (which was quite a lot) and we headed home. I was glad to get home before dark, because the deer were running big time. We had to stop for one in the road and there were 5 more in the ditch watching us. I was afraid one of them would run up out of the ditch into the side of our brand new car. But, they stayed put until we drove on. I wish I had had my camera. I didn't think about my camera on my cell phone until we were down the road.
I may just try to work 1/2 days Mon - Wed next week. I'll see how it goes. I try to walk around the house several times a day just to help build my strength. I really don't want to experience weakness around my parents or they will worry. I'm sure my brothers and kids will take good care of me and not let me do too much. The trip takes about 6 1/2 hours, so it alone will probably tire me.
I'm ususally a tough old bird, so I don't like this!!!!!!!

It was scary. That total feeling of weakness and shakiness is not a good feeling. Do you still find that you have to drink the 64 oz daily? It's weird, because before surgery, I have always drank more than that daily. Since surgery, it's hard to do. Guess that's because me tummy doesn't hold as much.
Wow, I am glad you are feeling some what better. I bet it was really scary.
I leav a glass of crystal light on my counter all day and evening. Filling it several times. Everytime I pas it, I take a sip or two. I do get all my liquids in. You will work yourself up to getting it all in. I am sure of it.
I still drink the 64 oz and more. Do like I said and you will get it in.
Good luck and drink, drink, drink.. NOt the stuff that comes in the alcohol bottles!
Peace

Hi Wanda,
You sure are a strong person. I don't think I would have tried going to Walmart never mind going back to work even part time so soon after surgery! :D I'm so glad you're doing much better after the IVs. I had the opposite problem you did. I drank so much water I was flushing all my sodium away. :P So we both have to find just the right balance, right? Take good care of yourself! Cassie

Thanks Cassie. This sure is a learning process and this old dog is just going to have to learn new tricks.
Walmart did tire me, but I didn't feel bad. Probably walking around there, leaning on the cart of course, helped build strength.
I've got to get a few things done around here today. Baby steps. I started packing for the trip on Thursday so that I don't have to do it all at once.
