Hi!
I'm getting ready for my last round of plastic surgery. This is going to be a rough recovery. I'm having my Inner thighs and Arms done. I'll be a mummy for a couple of weeks.
Anyone have any good book recommendations? I normally like to get detective/mysteries but am open to all suggestions.
Thanks!!!
Ruth

Hi Ruth..
I think I am going to get some classics to read again. A tree grows in Brooklyn, and a few others.
I am unsure what kind of books you enjoy. Also interested in anything about the inquisition. Such as Torqemada. Very interesting. I read a lot about it on the web. I have not bought any books on it yet. But it is on my list.
Peace

Good morning Ruth...
Don't know if you have ever read any of these, but I love books by Sue Grafton. She started with A in the alphabet and everybook begins with the next alphabet letter...the first book was A for Alibi. I'm reading U is for Undertow right now. The detective (PI) in the book is a recurring character.
I also read most mysteries by Jonathan Kellerman ( Alex Delaware series) , James Patterson (Alex Cross novels), and Patricia Cornwell (Kay Scarpetta). If you like Victorian novels..Anne Perry's Thomas and Charlotte Pitt Novels are great. Thomas is a detective with Scotland Yard during the 1800's. Its a whole series.
Good luck with your surgery and happy reading.

Thanks for the ideas.
Thanks for the ideas.
Have you ever read Sidney Sheldon books? They are mysteries. He no longer writes. You would have to find them at a used book store or library.
I wish we lived closer....I have them all.
I wish I had money for plastics....I desperately need a face lift and tummy tuck!!
Have a good day...hugs...connie d

Hi Connie,
It's kind of funny but I have never read a Sidney Sheldon book.....I think I'll have to check him out. I've been going to the local library a lot since moving (also a lot cheaper than $25.00 a book that later just collects dust on my shelf and then I ended up throwing them away or donating them when I moved). Back home I used to swap books with my sister and co-workers since there is nobody here I use the library and am actually enjoying it.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Plastics is costing a pretty Penny but since I have no children I decided to use some of my money on me instead of leaving it for my siblings to split when I'm gone....can't take it with me (not that there is so much) so I may as well use it on me....I earned it!
Thanks again.

Are you aware of www.paperbackswap.com? It's a terrific site. You simply post the books that you're ready to part with and collect credits as you send them off to others who want them. Those credits can be used to "buy" books to keep. The only cost is the cost to mail the books that you send off. The sender pays that when you receive books. Try it, it's awesome. I've really turned my home library over with that.
Also, check out 1,001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. It is a book, itself, but also a website and forum. http://www.listology.com/list/1001-books-you-must-read-you-d ie

I did hear about...looks like a great program.
I currently have no books to offer. When I moved I donated every single book I had to my local library so I have nothing to swap. Actually that's not true I got a book as a gift recently but probably won't get rid of it.
I will check out the 1001 books list...thanks for the suggestion!

Hi Ruth,
I'm conducting a Mystery Book discussion group at my local library-- we are re-visiting Agatha Christie, and reading JA Jance's Joanna Brady series ( a modern woman juggling career and family and mystery), and some others. I personally love Patricia Cornwell and James Paterson. For 'cozy' mysteries Braun's The Cat Who... series is fun, as is tamara Meyer's series the Pennsylvania Dutch Mysteries. So many books...so little time!
