3 days post-op

I feel really good.  I think having to "run" to the bathroom several times yesterday helped.  Kept me from sitting too long, even though I get up and walk every 1/2 hr or so.  Just up and down off the toilet is probably good for me.  Things don't feel quite as "tight".  Sleeping in the recliner wasn't too great.  I didn't get a lot of sleep.  I may try to go to bed tonight.  I just can't lay flat on my back and turning to my side feels like things are pulling.

I won't over do it, but I think each time I get up to walk, I will pick up something, or do something to tidy up the house a bit. When we got home yesterday morning, everthing just got dropped in the dining room.  The living/dining rooms are all open so  it makes the whole house look cluttered.  If it's picked up, I will feel better.

My son and his family will be over this evening to visit.  Our daughter will drive down from Des Moines tomorrow with her girls.  Her husband is working a sports and travel show tomorrow and Sunday, so she decided she could come down and help out.  That may prove to be difficult with a 3 year old and a 15 month old.  I can't wait to see the kids.  I'm afraid they will want to crawl onto my lap.  It's going to be hard not to pick up Jett and she won't understand why.  The 3 year old will understand and will take care of g'ma, because she's a doctor, you know. LOL (and a princess too- quite a combination)

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Wanda, sounds like you are doing well.  Sleeping in a recliner is never fun, as a side sleeper for so many years I am not looking forward to this either.  Don't worry about a little clutter, ask your daughter to help you out.  I bet your spirits will really be up when you see your grandkids.

Take it easy and keep the posts coming.  It is so helpful for me and others that are going to have our surgeries soon.

Glad to hear you're feeling good.  Try to ignore the mess until someone else straightens it out for you.  It's your turn to rest and for it to be all about you and what you need to do for a while.  You'll get back into the house stuff soon enough, so my advice is to take a break and pamper yourself for a while.

I had RNY on Jan. 4th.   Everytime my husband mentions may I could do something like shovel the front sidewalk, I tell him I still have limitations until 8 weeks after surgery.  I guess I'm running out of time with that story though.

I really just wanted to say take care of yourself.

Good idea Sandi.  I think I'll use the 8 weeks thing too.  But in reality, I would feel better if I take it easy for a full 8 weeks. ....just to be sure.  I sure don't want to do anything to mess things up.  I'm bored out of my mind already.  I brought some things home from work to do, so I'll work on that some next week.  It will give my brain a much needed boost.

Thanks for your encouragement

You're doing great.  I took a week and a half off of work after surgery and didn't do anything except walk up and down the drive and drink, drink, drink my water and liquid protein.  I had a desk job but it was still difficult the first few weeks back.  Your body is going through a lot of changes not to mention healing from a major surgery.  Nobody will mind a little clutter.  Enjoy your family.  I'm so excited for you.  I can't wait to hear your first WOW moments.  You have truely begun a really fantastic voyage.  Welcome aboard!

Thanks Sybul.  I plan to put all of them to work, but I think that's really the reason they are all coming.  My husband does a lot, but he's been slacking a little himself.  It still all seems surreal to me.

I had gained 7 lbs post-op but this morning have lost 5 of those fluid pounds.  As soon as those last 2 liquid pounds are gone, I'm on the road downward.  I too can't wait until my first WOW moment.
