This is harder than I thought.
Well yesterday was hard, but today was worse. I was quite shaky this morning and felt weak. After 2 protein drinks, I felt better, but UGH. They are way too sweet. The broth I had for lunch with some protein powder in it was horrible! I had to gag it down. I’m ready to chew off my left arm.
I think I will try to do half shakes tomorrow and not drink so much in one sitting. Can I keep this up for 10 more days? I’m not sure. I’ll try my best, but right now I’m fighting back tears. I’ve read so often on OH that people go through this and I worried that it would happen to me. I thought I had my brain prepared for it, but I was very wrong.
I have told myself over and over today that I’m doing this to make my surgery as safe as it can be. It’s the best reason in the world to keep it up, but I have one of those little devils on one shoulder whispering to me that I should just go eat something. The angel on the other shoulder is a little weak in the knees right now; just like me.

Hi Wanda,
It is tough. I can sympathize with you. I knew I would be on liquids for two weeks before surgery and I knew it would be hard for me. Especially when other people in my family here was eating regular food. I tried not to cook for them as much but still had to do it.
I didn't think I was going to make it either. I just kept thinking I would have an easier surgery if I did. I didn't cheat , not once. After surgery it gets better - not a whole lot...but at least you can have soup and other mushy things. It helps.
Once you see the weight coming off you will see how worth the effort was.
Hang in there, I know you can do this. It takes willpower. You have it!
Peace

Good morning Mary. I have a reminder on my computer that pops up every morning that says
" I have no intention of cheating. I want to make my surgery as safe as possible"
I'll read it and set it to pop up every 2 hours. That way, any time I get on my computer, it's there to remind me of my committment.

listen to the angel on your shoulder..give yourself a hug and drink slower! it is NOT easy....no part of this surgery process is EASY--if it were there would be NO morbidly obese ppl!!!!!you are doing this for you!!!!!!
keep your eye on the prize and know that we are here for you! here's an extra hug!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

do you have ANY WHEY protein powder? you can use it in your baking and hot broth etc and it doesn't clump up or leave an after taste...you can add it to your foods and get some extra protein in....i always used it in my carnation sf instant breakfast after my surgery. it isn't sweet either...i bought mine at GNC.
and yes homemade ALWAYS tastes better...(((wanda))) you CAN do it!!! if you feel the need to "crunch" food try the sf popcicles
