Band Leaks? - X Post
OK, a short history. Banded Oct 07. Three fills and at my sweet spot on Jan 10 with 2.7 cc's. Lost 125 pounds and felt like a new woman!!
2009 - gallbladder out, cancer found, liver resection and bile duct replacement, had to have an NG tube placed with my band full, finally unfilled me about an hour later, only got 1.4 cc's out. No restriction, eating like a fiend all through chemo and radiation. My DH's surgeon gave me 1cc fill. (He billed my ins, but I'm sure the claim will be denied and I'll have to pay). Still no restriction. 10 days later I went to my FillCentersUSa fill guy. Costs me $165 and a 5 hour drive, one way, but I have MUCH confidence in him and his fill methods. He was only able to get .2cc's out. He gave me a 1.6cc fill. I tried to convince him I was OK at 2 cc's, but he won't let you leave his office til you have finished a bottle of water. Well, after I got backed up and had to 'get rid' of it, I went back in and he took .4cc's out. I got the 'told you so' talk and I wish my patients would believe me. On liquids for 24 hours. Had great restriction with water and soup later. Yesterday tried tuna for lunch, a little restriction. Oatmeal with raisins this AM went down without a problem. When I have decent restriction I can only get liquids down til about 10 AM.
My dilemna: if this is a leak do I try to convince my DH's surgeon to do some test to check it out? Do I go to my FILL Centers doc and have him check? Do I just go back to my original surgeon in MX and have him check and repair it? I am gonna be paying cash for this no matter where I go and what they do.
Anyone know what what they do to check for a 'slow leak'? How much it costs to repair? Is it different cost if it is the port, the tubing or the band itself? I am afraid they 'popped' one of those little pillows around the band when they jammed that tube down my throat. I was trying to get them to wait til they found a correct needle and someone who knew how to unfil before they tubed me, but no way.
