OT: Sad day
I find it a sad day and time when once again the Over 50 forum divides itself once again. The help and knowledge from those who have been here and done a lot is lost.
The feature of sharing is nothing new, only the buttons that show you it is and can be done is. Such a petty thing to lose good support over.
My opinion and everyone knows that's not worth a hoot.

I think your opinion is very important. As far as making another group I don't think it has changed this group or the support over here. I post at both places.
THe one thing I have noticed is there are a lot of new people who found Irish's group. That is a good thing. We need to get support from others and give support to others.
I value anyone's opinion. If you noticed, none of our friends here have left. The same cheerful people pop in everyday to say hellp and tell us what they are eating or offer good support.
Don't feel upset about the two groups, look at it as another place you can go to read and get encouragement and, meet new people in the process who are just like us. Going through good times and bad.
Irish had the right to make her own group. We all do. Who knows maybe one day you or I will be brave enough to make one!
Change is hard. We haven't lost our over 50 board, but we may have gained a few new friends because of the other board. They too are looking for some place to go.
I hope you post more often. Your point of view and feelings are good to share with your friends here.

I have to see I agree too. Anything you post on the net can be copied. Just like you say, now you just have buttons to make it easier.
I personally make sure I visit this forum and the Texas Message Board every night. Even if I don't post. But the new one, I have been on maybe twice and that was out of curiousity.

It is one of the reasons when everyone was in an uproar over the share buttons, that I chimed in and stated there is no real privacy to begin with. While I understand why some are so private about their WLS choice, there are lots of way to remain anonymous and get support, such as not using your real names, which can be done via PM, if you chose to divulge it with someone you connect with here.
I love the people who populate the OFF, many differing view points, some a bit more controversial that others, but is that not life? We all and I do mean, ALL, have good stuff to offer one another.
I think Cassie was thoughtful in her doing what she did, however, it does create a situation that makes it somewhat harder, for me personally, as I already participate on two forums here and between that and my own personal email stuff, it is time consuming to keep up with yet one more, but that is my problem and should not be an issue for those who chose to participate and as someone else said, it has brought some new people to know that there is a forum for those who are of a certain age and going through this process. .. It's a case of the ying and yang of life, not all good, not all bad. . .
Darlene, please continue to be and speak your mind, as you are a valued member of our peers, your opinion is wanted and needed, sometimes you get razzed because you take a stand, but I am of the belief, stand for something or fall for anything!
