Monday morning review, what's new?
I hate that we are getting more snow but it really looks pretty outside!
I am not planning on going anywhere today....work from home as usual. I can't believe I had no work related emails or phone messages this morning. Usually I have tons on Monday mornings after having a long weekend off. I am not complaining....just surprised!
I complain about Minnesota winters but wow the east coast has it worse then us....unbelievable amounts of snow and more on the way.
Everyone keep safe if you are out driving in the bad weather. I wish you all a really great day!
Prayers to those in need....and a few special ones going up too.
Love and hugs.....connie d
Hi Debbie and my OFF family:
Wow, where is everyone this morning ... on the other board? I'll have to go look. I was up at 5:30 a.m. and finally went back to sleep ... way too early to get up. Got up again at 7:30 and then decided to get out of bed because the alarm was going to go off anyway at 8. I have an appointment with my psychologist today, then I'm going to see "The Blind Side." I'm taking one day off before I tackle the big job of filing for unemployment, starting down the disability road and starting to clean out my house to get it ready to sell.
My cleaning lady is coming while I'm gone ... I don't get her here often, just once a month now, but the place really needs to be vacuumed and the bathrooms desperately need cleaning, things I can't do very well. I can do a little dusting, but the vacuuming is too difficult with my knee and back.
Well, have a good day. We are supposed to walloped with a snowstorm tomorrow and Wednesday, but fortunately, I have nowhere to go, so I'll just stay home.
Anyway, Monday. Yuck. Snowing. Double Yuck! LOL
I got up at 4:45, got ready and shoveled a path to the car. Took Michael to the south part of town (we live NE), for dialysis, then drove to St. Paul for work. The roads were slow and snowy, but passable. It took much longer than usual. After I pick him up this morning, I'm going to work from home the rest of the day. That makes a lot more sense. It's a mess out there.
The weekend was great - just putzing on the sidewalks - icy, yucky stuff - and knitting! I re-learned how to knit and now I'm nearly 2/3 through with a scarf I'm making Michael. A big muffler for the cold here.
Last night I made one of his fav dinners - stuffed peppers, and now we have leftovers to enjoy. I ate about 1/3 of one (they were large). Then he worked last night and I knitted and watched some of the super bowl.
Have great days and be careful if you have to drive in snow!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY! Working on the next 25. Then I'll tackle more...
What's going on people? It is 8 AM and no one around (hardly).
Thanks for getting us started Debbie.
It was an okay weekend. Did the things I wanted to do and am supposed to do yesterday (Church and Sunday School for the latter, Super Bowl party for the former).
Did have problems starting my car after Church. My son gave me a jump. Then went home and needed a jump again before I went to the party. I arrived there telling the host I would need a jump when I left. 90 minutes later I tried to start the car and nothing. So when we got ready to leave, someone went and got his truck and pulled up next to my car. The locks would not open, except the driver's door. I got in the seat and the car started up. It gave an early try, then kicked in. Mary and I had already discussed her going to Autozone this morning to get a battery. I hope that is all it is. I am guessing it might have a cell that is going bad. Mary just called from Autozone. Because it is raining they won't check the battery for her or put a new one in. So I told her to go to Walmart.
Edited to Add: Just got off the phone with Mary. They tell her it is definitely the battery. Thank you Lord. That is an easy enough fix.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
It is so cold here this morning. I am cold most of the days now. This old place is so drafty but something seems to tell me that most places would be cold now...it is such a penetrating cold too as most of all you know. We are suppose to get a super snow storm that is going to start later today and go through tomorrow. They are talking all of us getting at least 6" of the dreaded white stuff before the lake effect starting. Once that stuff starts it's any ones guess as to when the lake stops dumping on us. I am just waiting for spring to start...and I have a strange feeling that I am not alone on that thought either, now am I guys?
I have to go to the store for some little odds and ends and then I will be set for the hibernation period for now. I went to the store for most of all the stuff that we were out off, which seems like was most of the stuff. I was going for a "few" things and ended up spending over $50. which we know isn't hard anymore. It seems like that when you go to the store now a days the prices are higher with each trip. Not sure how high they can go up but personally I am don't want to know either. When is this madness going to stop?
My neighbor who is almost 92 years old isn't doing well at all. I can see such a drastic change in her that it is almost unbelievable. She is declining so fast. She told me the other day that she thinks her days are up and I can see why she is thinking that. I went to the doctor with her last week because she was suppose to have a colonoscopy and she she started the prep for it and she got so sick..here it took everything out of her body and what was there was so messed up. It has been a week now and she still isn't up to where she was. I am beginning to wonder if she ever will be. The doctor told her that she shouldn't be living by herself and I agree with that. She told her that she shouldn't be watching small children either...boy do I agree with that. Her family here in town doesn't agree though..they are still bringing the little boy who is 4 to stay. It is good for them. Well the other day her daughter (who is NASTY) came and got mad that Virginia is talking about moving in with her other daughter. She told her Mom in a LOUD voice I might add, that this is the last time she is bringing Alex. She knows that Virginia and very close to him and that is her weak spot. She is using him and how do you tell someone that their daughters thoughts are only on herself and not for the best of her Mother's health? I thought my family was bad?!
I guess I should get to moving. Time marches on and waits not for me. Oh how I wish that it did sometimes. Well to be honest it would be more than at times...it would probably be all the time. ha ha
I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers and good thoughts are being done for everyone too. Keep warm and if you need to go out in the bad weather make sure you take extra care. Have a great day and know that just one smile may change someones life for the better and we would never know it.
What a great game last night, quiet a surprise I'd say, but for once, it was a real nail biter! Sometimes the best part of the game is the commercials, but last night I couldn't wait for them to be over so we could get back to the action!
So, even though I had TWO beers (I rarely drank beer before my WLS, but boy, they tasted good with a splash of lime in them), some hummus, salsa, and vegan, yes VEGAN chocolate cake. Believe me, it was very, very good, not overly sweet like most regular cakes. By it's nature, not having eggs and such in it, it was only 142 cals and 5 grams of fat. So, guess I'm a believer.
Snowing a bit here, just enough to mess stuff up and close the schools. Gary got to work, but it's supposed to snow again tonight, which will freeze the melted snow, so I might not be able to get to work. We'll see what we shall see, right?
Hope everyone's Monday is a good one. I'm finally (hopefully) going to get these tax papers together so I can have it out of my hair before Gary leaves for CA. Can't wait to have some ME time

I finished the afghan for the boy scouts raffle - 8 days - a new record for me. The Superbowl game was great. I wasn't rooting for any particular team but I like when the scores are not very far away from each other for most of the game. It makes it more exciting. Happy for New Orleans and LA.
Tiger Cubs tonight - we are doing a Valentine craft and a photo album. The photo album is part of their requirements. I made cupcakes yesterday for their snack.
We had trouble with the furnace yesterday but DH fixed it. The temp in the house was down to 57* and dropping. A little too chilly for me. Thank goodness we have a fireplace so we cranked that up until he got the oil line fixed.
Tomorrow is a goodbye lunch for 3 people who were laid off. Some were with the company from the beginning. So sad.
There was a gas line explosion in an energy plant not far from here yesterday. 5 were killed, 12 injured and they are still looking for some in the rubble.
We are expecting snow on Wednesday. It seems like it's been a long winter.
Have a good day everyone.
