YooHoo, it's Tuesday, where is everybody?
Good morning, ya'll.
Well, everyone slept in today? I'm almost always up by 5, but by the time I finish my morning routine and get to OFF there are a dozen contributors already!
Well, yesterday I got some good news, and then I celebrated. My chemo doctor says all systems are go. I start my last half of chemo tomorrow!! Three weeks on 1 week off, at least through March. She also said there are no restrictions on dental work (someone had told me their chemo doc had said no dentist while doing chemo). It's just my regular 6 month cleaning, and she will be sure my WBC is normal first. ALSO, she said I can go to TJ and get a fill whenever I want. As long as I feel strong enough. I'm thinking the end of Feb, or the end of March. Whoopie!! So we celebrated by going to Best Buy and getting a new 65" Plasma TV to be delivered and set up on Friday. I used to celebrate with food. Gotta tell ya, food is cheaper!!
Today I have to figure out how to rearrange my family room to fit this new TV, where to put the old 60" one in the living room, moving the LR TV to one of the bedrooms, and then getting rid of that bedroom TV. Plus when I can recruit 2 grandsons to help move all this furniture before Friday!!
I also have another doctor appointment this afternoon. Which seems to happen about 3 times a week, these days! I used to hate going to the doctor and put it off as long as possible. Now it's just another 3 hours out of my boring day!
Everyone have a fantabulous day.
Not much going on today, trying to get my DH to work on his man cave. I got a few pieces of furniture refinished. I love antiques.
The puppy is growing fast. We bring him & momma out to watch TV every evening. Well puppys eyes are still closed, but it is social time. Have a great day everyone!!!

HI Grammylew,
I am glad things seem to being going better for you. I hope you don't have to endure it much longer.
Not too much going on here this morning. Got up early again, 4:45. Think we are up early all the time because of our surgery's? I used to be able to sleep in, at least until 8 or 9.
Had a bad snacking night. It didn't show up on the scale. Thank God.
Going to clean out my closets and drawers today. I made a committment to get rid of things that no longer fit me. I was wondering why I was hanging on to them. Must be some kind of pyschological thing. All going to the goodwill. I have some things with the tags still on them. Incredible. I am glad I am a smaller size now.
I think I will shop at the goodwill until I am at my goal weight. It seems terrible to spend so much money on new clothes when they won't fit for long.
Well.. Everyone have a good day. Hope you like my Cat picture. Her name is Lilly.
I am on my way. What a ride it has been.

Don't beat yourself up about a bad snack night. It happens, then you just try again next day. In one night (and i really paid for this!!!!) I had a poptart, small bowl of potato chips, some Crunch-n-Munch. But ... I figured, try try again. We can do it, Mary!!!
I have some recipes for healthier crunchy snacks like homemade Crunch'n'Munch, just too lazy to actually make them! :P
I LOVE the cat pic!

Yep that is my kitty. She is in a crowd of four dogs too. Big dogs and one little one.
I know about the snacking. Sometimes it is just too tough.
What is your homemade recipe for the crunch n munch? Sounds good!

Homemade snacks are delicious but sometimes I'm just too lazy to make them, lol. Our recipe for healthier home made crunch & munch:
2 packages microwave popping popcorn (or 5 quarts of popped corn)
1/2 cup lite butter (1 stick)
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup Karo syrup
1 Pinch or two of salt (optional and per your taste)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda (can be adjusted down to be less foamy per your taste)
2 cups shelled peanuts (or cashews)
Spray a large turkey roaster with cooking spray.
Pop the corn in microwave, remove all unpopped kernels and pour into the roaster.
Pour 2 cups peanuts on the top and try not to let too many fall to the bottom. (If they fall to the bottom, they do not get syrup and will not adhere to popcorn.)
Preheat oven to 250 F.
Melt butter in large saucepan (Large pan; because it foams up at the last step and you need that extra size).
To that add Brown Sugar, Karo Syrup and Salt. Keep stirring and bring to a boil. Do not leave syrup unattended at any time.
When it starts to boil, let it boil for 2 minutes undisturbed (no stirring allowed). Make sure you time it otherwise the sugar could burn.
Then turn off burner but leave pan on heat. Add vanilla and stir slightly until it boils again.
Remove pan from heat and add soda, stirring vigorously to distribute evenly. Be careful not to let it overflow because the soda will make it foam up.
While it is still foaming up, pour syrup over peanuts/popcorn and use large wooden spoon to mix thoroughly to ensure all pieces have some syrup.
Put roaster in oven for up to 1 hour, 15 minutes. Stir mixture every 15 minutes until it begins to feel crunchy, then flatten popcorn down on cold countertop and let rest for about 30 minutes (or until cooled).
After 30 minutes break into clumps and put in air-tight jar or bag. Humidity will make product soggy if you leave overnight. If this should happen, just repeat oven procedure, till it gets crunchy again.
Be extremely careful when working with the hot syrup. Its temperature is very high and can cause serious burns if spilled. This snack can also be made way ahead of time if kept in an air-tight container. It keeps very well! But… hide it or it will be gone before you know it

I don't have all the ingredients to make it now. Will have to go shopping!
Thanks for writing it all out for me.
I am on my way. What a ride it has been.

I had to laugh about the TV vs food cost. I'm afraid I will transfer to spending and I think it will be more fun than food!
Getting ready to head off to work. We met with the Board of Supervisors yesterday about our FY 2011 budget proposal. Today, we need to go back over it and make the proverbial cuts! It happens every year, so not unexpected. We are going to get 3.5% raises 7/1/10 and they are adding another whopping 25 cents to mine for longevity pay. I've been there 28 years and they say that's worth a whole quarter! LOL
My DH is partially retired. He now works a seasonal job maintaining the 3 county parks. He really LOVES it. This winter he is actually working 2 days a week cutting brush and overgrowth in an area of one of the parks where the lake is being expanded. One of the perks of the job is we get to camp free in any of the 3 parks. On the three days he doesn't work during the winter, he has dinner ready when I get home from work. What a man!
Everyone have a great day!

I've been up since 4:30 and was surprised to see no one had started this thread. Wanted to, but since I'm not allowed to, I had to wait. Besides, since I have to work today I wouldn't be able to respond to two thread's postings.
Not much work this week, which is not good. Last week we had terrible weather (for us) and lots of cancellations, so I only made barely enough to pay my rent at the salon. Looks like this week is a repeat of last, without the bad weather. Hopefully it will get better!!
Well, off to Wii, not to be confused with wee.
Love and hugs to all!
