It's Thursday, so what's new?
Mary:
I had a knee replacement in 2007 and a revision in Dec. 2008 ... still have so much pain I can't sit at a desk for too long with my legs bent. Doctor says everything looks good, but I'm in pain. I'm fed up with this process. Two surgeries and I'm in more pain than I was before the knee replacement. I use ice packs at home and at work. I have an old chair at work with a pillow to use as a footstool, but I can't put that under the desk when I work, so I can only use that sometimes. I get these shooting, stabbing pains in my knee. I'm done with surgery ... I don't see how they can do anything else to fix this.

Eileen,
That is a shame. Going through two surgeries and no relief. How disappointing.
Do they give you some pain pills? I would be upset too. I guess somehow we learn to live with pain. It doesn't seem fair but our bodies compensate for it. I would have a serious talk with your doctor and ask why there is so much pain.
Sorry, and take care. Hopefully it will deminish as time goes by. I hope.

I get vicodin from the pain clinic. Gives me some relief but can't really work with it. Can't sit long at work with my knee bent. I had a talk with the ortho doc and he said everything looks fine and I have good range of motion and good flexion, so the pain must be something that is associated with my fibromyalgia. He said fibromyalgics sometimes never get good relief from knee replacements. I have read some studies since talking to him that said that. Also, my dad had two hip replacements and was always in some pain afterward ... fortunately for him, he didn't live long after ... he had kidney disease and colon cancer and only had his hip replacements about five years.
I think I have to live with this. I don't think I'm going to get any help.

I don't mind hockey. Especially with the offers they have here. I am going to two games next week. I got 12 people together to go on Tuesday. We got $120 tickets for $30 each. And for getting that group together, they gave me 4 $140 tickets for Saturday night. Gave. But give me a choice of seeing a free hockey game or paying to see a baseball game, it would be a tough decision. Because I know I should take the free, but I love the baseball.
Saturday is the Rangers Fanfest. Hoping to get to see the owner. I know I will see the Vice President of Sales, Andy Silverman. He is a real people person. He even gave me his cell number to call whenever I have a question. Last Saturday I emailed him a question at about midnight. By 12:15 I had an answer. Then we sent emails back and forth (12 total) basically having a conversation while I worked.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
I'm still trying to stay afloat at work, lol. Really behind and with state coming in I keep being given more tasks to do. I just keep priortizing what I can get done for the day and keep going. Too stresssed right now. I'm thinking about going back to floor nursing where I actually give patient care instead of shuffling paper all day long. I took this job when I had gained so much weight it was too painful to be on my feet for 8-12 hrs/day. I can do it now. I'm thinking hard about it.
Good morning Laureen and OFF,
I need to get my butt on the treadmill....haven't walked in two weeks now.
I just found out an old friend of mine died. She was only 58. I accidentally found out this information last night and I'm in shock. I have a call into her sister. I wish someone would have contacted me so I could have paid my respect.
Well, I'd better get back to work. Have a great day everyone!

Debbie,
Sorry to read about your friends death, hope you can make peace with it, sometimes people can't get to everyone. . .

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Good morning girls and boys, Glad to see all of you!
We are expecting a "winter weather event" tomorrow. Now, I've talked about this before, but I think it's pretty funny, especially for those of you who live in this stuff all the time. The rain today will move to freezing rain, then ice, and tomorrow snow. The entire central part of the state is in a dither, including me. Today is usually my day off, but I moved my Friday clients to today so I can stay home tomorrow. The grocery shelves are stripped of bread, milk and eggs. Can you honestly tell me that any household can't survive 36 hours without overflowing shelves and fridges???Good golly, I could eat for at least a week with whats in the house now, maybe not gourmet meals, but we surely wouldn't starve.
Schools will be closed, and only essential personnel will have to report to their jobs. I will stay home and work on taxes. Yipee
Gary bought tickets to go visit his mom in San Diego in two weeks. He'll be gone over the Valentines weekend, which is also his birthday weekend. I hate that we won't be together for either after 28 of them together, but I'm looking forward to 5, count them five days of ME time. Love the man like crazy, but it will be wonderful. Too bad Janet won't be in Dallas that weekend, I would have driven over for some shopping and girl talk.
Hug, love and happiness
