Morning crewmates, hope you're having a grand day so far. It's football day at the Higgins house, so I'm trying hard to have healthy snacks around for us to munch on. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'll be able to not graze my way through the afternoon and evening.

Here we go

latte

B- chilquilles (a Mexican breakfast dish. Gary's working this a.m., so he'll be happy when it comes home to this) well, already the day's plan has changed. Gary ate before coming home, so I had a mini bagel and some cottage cheese w/applesauce.

S----probably nothing, late breakfast

L--cottage and applesauce I'll get back to ya on this since I ate lunch for bkfst. AGHHHH

s--- making hummus, tzatziki, sliced pita, some marinated artichokes and olives (I'll refrain from those, maybe, hopefully, okay, one or two), deviled eggs, baked chips. So, I'll have a bit here and there.

d-  bar-b-que beef on lite bun, 1/2,  coleslaw made with lite dressing, ff baked beans

So, that's my story. We'll see how I stick to it.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHARGERS!!!!!!

Thanks for doing this honey.

Hot Tea-
Breakfast- PROTEIN SHAKE    [Thank you Susan]

snack- none

Lunch- after Mass...at our favorite little place- salad and cup of soup

snack- not sure, hopefully I will sleep through it.

Dinner- I am going to a little Golden Globes Party at my girlfriend's home and I have been requested to bring my French Potato Torte.....which I need to make with my grandson today,
he  is three years old and he loves to help me make pastry. I make it in the Food Processor and he loves to put in the butter , pulse it over and over, and add the cold water a little at a time with me. I think I will make him a pie also. His Daddy and his brother and he all love the French Silk Pie.....plus all the scraps with cinnamon and sugar on them.

I feel I am now concentrating on portion control....and not be crazy strict about what I eat. I feel that is one of the reasons I had this surgery for....to limit how much I eat.

BUT......I definitely need to also concentrate on NOT GRAZING....easy to do with this pouch.

Keep thinkin' the good thoughts
Marti

Marti, I read an article, I think it was this month's OH mag, that said we should  measure our food (this is for folks who are vets like us and think we know it all....lol)  once a week to remind ourselves what a portion looks like. I know that my pouch holds about one cup of food. So, my cottage cheese (pre-packaged in 2 oz containers) is 1/4 c, then my applesauce is another 1/4 cup, and my mini bagel is about 1/2 cup.  If I feel full before I eat all of it, I quit, but I know that if I do fini**** I can't have any more.

You are sooo right.....Of course when I was making pies with Wyatt and we put the connamon and sugar on the dough.....Who do you think nibbled the most.....Me of course....I don't think I will do that again. I need to fill up on good stuff.

I am going out to dinner tonight and to Imperial Gardens....and I am not clear on what to eat at a Chinese restaurant......so I am having a very small hamburger patty...that my husband fixed me to help me tonight resist bad stuff.

Thanks for the help....I need it.
Love, Marti

Gotta go look what's in the fridge and the freezer.  I'll post after i figure something out.  Just crawled out of bed.

At least I sleep on the weekends.  Weekdays are the problem....

OK, I'm back.

I spent a few minutes painting and pondered food.  Here's today's plan:

2 cups of coffee with ff half and half

B:  I know it's already noon, but whatever.....
1 c lowfat cottage cheese and about 3/4 cup fruit

S:  nothing  coffee with ff half n half

L:  tossed salad with chick peas and a little shredded cheese, ff rasp
vinaigrette drsg

S:  nothing  apple and cheese stick

D:  Homemade turkey vegetable soup, about 1-1/2-2 cups

S: trail mix about 1/2 cup

Probably a protein bar somewhere in there.  The chocolate, you know....
had the protein bar

I'll let you know how it goes......

Better choices today

Hello, everyone!

Wow! 1 pm and it's still foggy out there. We got a call on Mom's brand new double pillowtop mattress & boxspring..only 11 months old used by a little old lady...lol..but Im taking the $350.00 for it and now a call on the pretty willow & glass patio set...it will be good to get them out of my house..I just don't have the room for all of this.  The money will go into Mother's bank account. Derek will be leaving momentarily to deliver the bed and I am heading to the city to go swimming!

I have a stress test on Tuesday and I'm not supposed to exercise the day before so I'm doing it today instead. And a darned good thing that I called ahead to ask what the quiet time on Sunday is..whew! there's a kids birthday party there in the pool til 3pm.  So Im holding back...lol.

This is today's menu:

B  hot chocolate protein drink (done)

S  banana stuffed with peanit butter (done)

L  homemade high protein soup (beef, bean, veg & barley) (done)

S  hot chocolate protein drink when I get back home from swimming

D  green salad w/ shredded carrots, cucumber, romaine lettuce, sunflower seeds, slivered almonds, dried cranberries, shrimp & light Renee's poppyseed dressing

S   possibly more shrimp

~3 litres of water & all my supplements~
