A few WOWS, especially for us "older" women

Margaret,  What a wonderful story.  I'm about  1 1/2 years out and still am amazed at comments people make.  Just the other day  we were having a care plan meeting with a family member at work.  I had known this person from another nursing home I worked at for several years.  She did not have a clue as to who I was.  It still feels good, lol.

Margaret,

That is a great WOW and your insight into this process is wonderful, self validation is usually hard to come by, so while you are experiencing the recognition of others and enjoying that, it is really great that you are processing the fact that you are looking and feeling better about you!

Congrats on you success thusfar, your sharing that side of things reminds those of us further out of how wonderful this gift and journey is.

Best wishes, Laureen

Laureen  -  when I was writing this, I was reminded about your posting regarding the dress that you wore in your avatar.  It was a new dress, and you stated something like - that wearing the dress was the first time that you'd felt pretty (I hope I'm close).
My post and yours remind me how hard we are on ourselves and how difficult it is for us to change that negative tape that runs on and on in our head.  I have tried many times in my life to change the tape and I have never been totally successful - or anywhere near where I wanted to be.  I'm going to start all over with affirmations and hope that I can really begin to believe in myself again.

It is so nice when someone pays us a compliment ,,  It doesnt matter why or how or what cir****tance we get one paid to us .  I remember all that from the early years( I am 6 years out now and still get them from time to time ..  Now it is more looks as in double takes :)
Funny though , even though I dont even resemble who  I used to be and am considered quite attractive by what most say...   I STILL dont realy feel it .
I wonder if the self images from many years that were not good ones ever really leave us .
I try to pay compliments to people though in some form or another because lifting someones self confidence is a wonderful feeling for them to have based on how I feel when I get one.    I guess I can say "PAY IT FORWARD"
I am way more healthy now and thank God everyday for this second chance ..
