I depend on cheese, too ... and peanuts ... so I'd be lost if I was told to cut down on sodium. I'm trying to up my protein, too, and finally found a protein powder that isn't yucky. I like it in my coffee and late at night as hot chocolate. My nails look horrible and my hair is thinning. Of course, I'm under stress, too, which doesn't help.

I've been using the Bariatric Eating's Inspire stuff, it's $19.99 for a bag. It's not as cheap as others (you can read Nancy's post above), but I like it better than some others I've tried.

Greek yogurt has an amazing amount of protein. Lots of regular stores are carrying it now, not just the "health-food" ones. The 0% fat usually only comes in plain, so you have to add sugar subsititute or some sort of flavoring. I use it instead of sour cream on a baked potato or if I make something like Swedish meatballs.
A good snack or breakfast that Janet told me about is to mix cottage cheese with yogurt. Wowzers, lots of protein and goes down easily.
Nectar protein drinks, made by Syntrax, are very good. I have only drank those since surgery. The Fuzzy Navel tastes like Tang, especially if you sprinkle in a little Crystal Lite Orange with it. 90 cals and 28 grams of protein. You can get it from Vitalady.
Almonds......Blue Diamond has some 100 cal packs at Wal-mart in the Cocoa Roasted flavor that are AMAZINGLY good. They don't have sugar on them, just dark cocoa powder. Yummmmm. Something you can keep in your purse or desk.

Hope this helps!

Julia - that has to be terribly frustrating.

I went to the bounce house with the M&M's. There are several inflated houses for bouncing, sliding and crawling through tunnels.

Matthew decided that Grandma HAD to go in with him. There I was, 62 years old, crawling, bouncing and going down the slides. He reprimanded me for going down the slide head first - supposed to be head first only.

There was not enough room for a 5'2" adult to maneuver and turn around. But what the heck, I managed. At 320 lbs, my fat ass wouldn't have fit through the entrance.

This morning my entire body knows those positions taxed muscles in new and wonderous ways ways. Groan. Will we do that again? You betcha Yes

Debbie,
It was totally undignified and awesome. Butt in air to squeeze through an 18" mesh door, crouching on hands and knees in the little tunnels, and bouncing with a bunch of kids - but most fun was catching Matthew in my arms as he took a flying leap for kisses. Ahh, the wonder of WLS.

I can't wait until Josh is big enough to go in one of those.  I've always wanted to try it, but have always been too big.  Not anymore, and hopefully I'll be smaller when he comes of age...

That's funny, Annette. I wouldn't have been able to bounce with my bad knees, but sounds like you had fun anyway. I remember when I went to the St. Louis Arch and got in those little cars. I knew I wouldn't have fit in them at 350 pounds, so that was a big WOW moment for me.
